Tom Hark by the Piranhas and The Fratellis’ Chelsea Dagger have both been used as Town’s goal celebration music in recent seasons but now the search is on for a local artist or band to create a new piece of music to accompany the inevitable post-goal jumping around and screaming.

With music copyright laws changing, clubs are facing increased demands for fees and royalties, therefore Town and a number of other clubs are looking to provide their own music for goal celebrations.

This is an opportunity to not only give the Blues fans a new piece of celebration goal music, but also give a budding or established artist or band a great chance to gain media attention and put themselves on the musical map locally.

Those interested in providing material, which should consist of a piece of music about 30-45 seconds long, should send it to Barry Calver, who is on the Supporters' Club's media committee, at the address below before January 31st 2011.

After this cut-off date, depending on the number received, the entries will be played at half-time in two or three home games later in the season to gain supporters’ general opinion.

Town will then call on fans to make the final decision by casting their votes via the matchday programme and various websites.

All entries to be sent on a CD to:

The "goal" music is bad enough, but what really gets to me is the music that is blasted out leading up to kick-off.

When I was a kid, I used to love walking down to the ground as you could hear the crowd singing from about half a mile away, and that was half an hour before kick off.

These days, you arrive at the ground and can't even hold a conversation with the person next to you because of the volume of the music. Then the music stops, the game kicks off and there is no atmosphere 'cos the crowd hasn't had the chance to warm up.

I agree with those on here who would like to get rid of all the "corporate" music at PR: pre-match and post-goal. It's bland, it's trash, and it's about as inspiring as TV reality shows. But it would be great to have our own song, with the proviso that it's not something embarrassingly corny like "Good Old Arsenal ..." In the town in Sweden I live in, the footy team has its own song that they do pre-match, it's not that corny, and EVERYONE sings: old, young, and the otherwise non-singing sections of the ground. Really, though, it's up to the (younger) fans to improve the atmosphere at PR, and replace all the bland PR (as in public announcement) stuff that is just killing this at the moment. Section 6? Let's be 'avin yer! By the way, we're coming away with at least a point on Sunday!

I am with the majority, no music, however it wouldn't bother me greatly I'd we do, asa let's go to town would be terrible choice, I have nothing against the song but tempo far to slow and downbeat, I always thought Tom Hark was alright.

I also think goal music should be scrapped, however before kick off they should play "Lets go to town" and the new version of "Edward Ebeneezer" that they did for charity a couple of years back, that might get the crowd singing come kick-off time?

I'm with the majority, no music but if pushed i'd go with the theme tune to the Banana Splits show...........the sped up 'punk' version by the Dickies.

It should be Asa Jennings' 'Let's Go To Town'.

Absolutely no music at all please, not at the start or when they come out at half-time either please. Thank you Barry. When did you ever see a good honest Sunday morning league team jogging on to the pitch to some poncy old bit of opera from some bloke with a CD player in the boot of his car. Utter bollox. Let us generate the noise please.

I like the idea of playing My Way before kick-off, but get rid of the goal music. If we have to have it, the only piece I'd vote for would be John Cage's 4'33"
