Fallon Warns Dogfight Ahead
Fallon Warns Dogfight Ahead
Monday, 13th Dec 2010 15:47

Striker Rory Fallon has warned his new Town team-mates that they’ll find themselves in a relegation fight sooner rather than later if the current run of bad results isn't ended. The loanee New Zealand international made his full debut in Saturday’s 1-0 loss at Preston.

Fallon, who was relegated from the Championship with parent club Plymouth last season, said: “If we don’t watch it we will be in a dogfight and then every game is a battle, a cup final. The effort is there and, with no disrespect to Plymouth, the team is there for Ipswich to move back up the table.

“You cannot leave it until the end of the season to start winning or Ipswich will be like Plymouth last year. I’ve been in a lot of dogfights and the only way out of it is through hard work.”

Fallon says he’s been at clubs where players have waited for a change of manager to provide impetus: “I’ve been through it all before with players wanting managers to get sacked so the club brings someone else in.

“It’s wrong to wait for someone else to come in and kick us up the backside — we’ve got to do it. By the time you know it you are playing catch-up. And I tell you - you don’t want to be playing catch up.”

The 28-year-old wouldn’t be drawn on whether there are players at Town not giving their all at present: “It’s not up to me to say.

“But we must all look in the mirror and ask ourselves if we are giving 100%. That’s what the lads have got to think.”

So are the players waiting for a new Manager? I thought it was only the supporters!!!

Fallon - what a load of rubbish of course you will be in a relegation dog fight if the current run of results continues. If the current run continues we will be relegated we won't even be in a dog fight.

This post is the first indication that maybe some players aren't happy.

“I've been through it all before with players wanting managers to get sacked so the club brings someone else in" this would imply the players are not as behind Keane as Murphy and Leadbitter seem to believe?

Hey Rory - stick with us mate and you will end up back where you came from. Which is incidentally about your level !!!!

Another $hit piece of business by our witless leader !!!!

Thats very refreshing Rory. Well said. Your experiences will be very influential in the dressing room and on the training pitch. Welcome to the club. I hope Priskin is put up front with you next game.

Oh he won't be up front with Priskin next match, Roy the boy has already commented on how well he played in both boxes so I can see him lining up with Tommy Smith this weekend (or maybe even at RB, everyone else has been out of position there!)

What everyone got against Rory Fallon? Yes he isnt the best player and we shouldnt have signed but its not his fault. He was given the chace at a bigger club and took it and who can blame him. Yes he missed a on-on-one last home game vs Swansea but the ball took ages to come down and according to the radio he had a solid game away at Preston. After all we can only ask he tries his best and at the moment his goal tally for town this year is the same as Ronan Murray and Connor Wickham who both have played more games. For god sake give him a break and let him play his football.

And about the obvious comment. Hes only been here 2 weeks so for him to come out and say that is pretty on the money. Yeh Im no Rory lover and definitly dont think he good enough on his track record but he deserves a chance! so for god sake stop with all the 'F off Rory' messages because your meant to be fans! Now you dont have to support the gaffer but you should support the team and the players!

clearly players want Keane out then, not giving their all, hoping for Royston to get sacked. Cant blame them really.

Ok, I agree with the above, we want Fallon and Keane out, but Fallon does raise some issues. He suggests that the players are merly waiting for Keane to go (as if they know it cannot be long). Secondly he also hints that some of the players are not giving their all. Otherwise why say "its not for me to say.." Fallon if the players are giving their all, you won't be popular in the dressing room as well as in the stands!

Whats he on about saying the players will be in a dogfight? We ARE in a relegation dogfight.

Skip....its fighting talk by Rory! What do you want to hear, lets attack the bottom of the league? Kean is a winner (in trouble) Marcus is a winner (in trouble). Most of you on here are just sour losers (in trouble) who deserve relegation, so there.

Unless I have mis-read this Fallon has pretty much admitted that the Ipswich players want Keane out?

No jas. He is warning everyone that it is easy to fall into that trap. He has been there done it. He seems very intelligent.

Keane has to go and the sooner he does then the greater the chance we have of salvaging our season.

He should have tucked a chance away the lanky cook - sack him! sack Roy Keane! I'm as serious as poopoo when i say Keane has to go!

Preston was a chance for him and he blew it with the same tinkering and post match excuses.

WAKE UP ROY, YOU WERE A GREAT PLAYER BUT YOU ARE A RUBBISH MANAGER - LEAVE NOW DON'T MAKE US ALL SUFFER WITH YOU!

FORK!
FORF!

legoman really? it reads i have been there before, implying he is there again? he also wouldnt be drawn as to whether players are putting in 100% - so i agree with jas it does appear that he is saying all isnt as it should be in the camp. Otherwise surely he would have said the players are all behind the manager, and we must retain that in order to survive?

Fallon played reasonably well on Saturday. Won most in the air and set up some decent chances for Scotland. He had a decent chance himself. Looks like he is up for it! Look forward to seeing Rory with Priskin in next game.

Scotland has gone completely off the boil after his great start. Pity.

i think people should stop kidding themselves that a new manager will suddenly change our fortunes, lets face it our squad is very poor average at best, ok we got off to a decent start but as soon as we played a decent side, (q.p.r.) we got thumped! also having loads of loanees doesnt help our cause either.
I want keane out as much as anyone but i feel its going to take a very long while to rebuild a decent side again when hes gone and clear out a lot of garbage we have at this club.
I think in the long run it will do us good to go down, but it will be a very dark day if we do but with the current set up i cant see us avoiding the drop.

tallguy - I don't think people believe a new manager will change things around immediately, but the right manager (big but there!) will save the team from going down, then rebuild over the summer. I don't think Town fans will mind mid table next year, as long as we try to play the Ipswich "Football" way and seem to be going forward. Under Keane we are dropping like a trapezze act with no safety net and playing poor football into the bargin.

Things have got to change, starting with the manager and maybe Clegg as well. This is a complete copy of what hapened at Norwich two seasons ago. Poor management and loan players = relagation. I doubt we would be so lucky to find a Lambert to get us straight up.

Do you really think a new manager is going to be able to do anything differently ? These players will have to be used for the simple reason they are on the wage bill ! If a new manager came in he would not be able to sign players without cutting the wage bill ( selling players ? ) , as RK had to in the summer , and as so many of you keep saying they are not good enough what would happen ? It is time people started to think clearly and logically about the future of this great club and started to give support not negativity ! The time to give most support is in the bad times . Do not read into Fallons words things that are not there and as many say they are all RKs players so they will not be doing him down rather they will be supporting him !
