Bullard Move in Early Stages
Bullard Move in Early Stages
Tuesday, 25th Jan 2011 08:58

Town’s move for Hull City midfielder Jimmy Bullard is still very much in its early stages, according to reports in East Yorkshire this morning. Blues boss Paul Jewell is understood to have spoken to his Tigers counterpart Nigel Pearson yesterday regarding his interest in his former Wigan player.

A source at Hull is reported to have said that the proposed loan deal is still in its "early days" with Jewell and Bullard believed to be planning talks in the next 48 hours, after Town’s Carling Cup semi-final second leg at Arsenal.

If the player agrees in principle to making the switch, which the Tigers would welcome, the clubs would have to come to an arrangement regarding the 32-year-old’s £45,000-a-week wage, the issue which led to a summer loan to Celtic breaking down.

The Blues would be looking to pay only a proportion of Bullard’s salary, which was agreed as part of a deal which runs to 2013 during Hull’s time as a Premier League club.

Loan deal would be ideal. We would pay his wages for the remainder of the season and maybe a small fee and get a quality player for 5 months at very low risk as we can send him back in the summer if not required.

Would be a good addition and personality in the changing room. Him and Norris would cause all sorts of trouble on and off the pitch.

The dark cloud of Keane is being lifted and we will now see players playing with a smile on their faces. A bit of 'crazy gang' spirit is what we have missed!

get him in, a match winner and someone who can unlock a defense if injury free.... also a great character to have around and could really help to turn our season around if things go well!!!!

clive_baker when you say we will page is wages, i assume you are not suggesting we pay the full 45K a week!

If he comes here i hope the wage issue dont cause problems for us in the changing room, and as long as we have a clause that we can send him back if injured.

A lifelong friend who is a Hull season ticket holder believes that Bullard is incredibly disruptive and they would (Hull and its supporters) be absolutely delighted to offload him. We need to be very cautious here although I acknowledge that he is a very talented player. The issue is can Paul Jewell manage him?

Calm down he ain't coming, nor is anyone else. The tranfer window closes on Monday and we haven't signed anyone. The deals that get done have been done already or are being worked on now. Like all the other transfer window Ipswich Town misses out again.

It would be nice to have some fresh faces but I have a feeling that jewell is being VERY shrewd. He doesnt want to spend the money he has now unless for the perfect player available then add the money available now to his summer kitty and build a championship winning team. In my eyes if he is doing that then he is pulling a blinder the squad we have now is good enough to deliver this seasons target!!!

Katemoss may well have a good point. Negotiations are starting about the "megasalary" and I doubt they will be concluded. What percentage of that can we realistically pay? Hull will (obviously) want us to pay most of it as he will be "our" player,- but I fear that this is where negotiations will break down.
PJ has been smart so far, no panic buys and a full assessment being made of the squad. VERY fed up with the constant pressure from Cotterill on Norris though. Why don't we transfer list him now and see who else comes into the frame? I bet someone other than Pompey will be willing to pay more money for him here and now. Just because he is transfer listed does not mean we have to accept the silly sums offered by Portsmouth. Norris remains silent on the issue,- not a good thing. If we can, get £600,000 for him now and lets be done with him (he's worth more, but I fear psychologically he's no longer our player anymore).

it looks like PJ is covering the possibility of losing Chuck. My guess is that his agent has secured a good deal at Pompy (3 years!). As for JB, he only returned from 2 month injury in decmber and while he's played, it was interesting that he wasnt used in Hull's last two games (could have been injured again or maybe they've expected him to leave soon!)
I'd only take him on a pay as you play basis but doubt he'd join on those terms.

Kate moss - your post has no relevance to this story as loans can go through once the window shuts

Great player and a great character for the dressing room, but what about his injuries?

just a view on people saying about loans being good for the short term only and not good for the club and being against them in general, whilst i can see their point I believe blackpool were heavily dependant on loanees in their promotion campaign so just goes to show, if used correctly, this can be an effective way operating and also can provide an opportunity for us to see some big names in a town shirt that would otherwise be just a fantasy, i think we can all agree that we loved having Gio as one of our own when a year previous he was a regular in the Barcelona team! I hope we do get bullard in because above all i believe he is better than what we have and will improve our team. Just my opinion.

Katemoss please take a happy pill. If JB comes to us on loan, fantastic, if he doesn't no probs. Would be good to see a couple of signings by Monday plus JB on loan and we will push on well away from the bottom.
