Drury Delighted to Have Joined Town

New signing Andy Drury says he’s delighted to have made his move from Luton to the Blues. The midfielder, who signed a two-and-a-half-year deal earlier today after the clubs agreed a £150,000 fee, might not be able to make his debut at Derby tomorrow with Town still to confirm his availability.

Drury told the club site: "I'm obviously delighted to be here. It's a great opportunity for me to come here and show what I can do at a top football club.

"There were a couple of clubs interested but as soon as I knew Ipswich wanted me, my mind was made up instantly.

"Ipswich has a great history and looking around the place, it's a fantastic football club. I know the fans and the players won't know much about me but it's up to me to show that I can make an impact here. That's the target for me, to get into the team and help Ipswich progress."

Drury has travelled to Derby for tomorrow’s match as part of a 19-man squad, but may not be available to play as his deal was completed after midday. Town are seeking clarification from the authorities.

Meanwhile, Luton boss Richard Money says he’ll miss watching Drury in action for his team: "I think the most disappointing thing for me is that I really enjoyed watching him play.

"Everyone connected with the club, especially the football management team and players, deserve a huge amount of credit.

"We'd got a player who had never played higher than non-league in his career and wasn’t even first choice for his former club, and put him on a stage and he's been absolutely outstanding.

"He's been terrific for us and he's an excellent footballer, so it didn't surprise us that someone would come in for him and of course didn't want to stand in his way from progressing his career.

"To be fair to Andy he said if it wasn't a Championship club he would have stayed. We tried hard to give him an improved contract but sometimes that's life and we move on."

Welcome fella. Goos stuff that he seems to want to play for us, I don't think we were ever Chalie's first choice. Not much of a gamble for 150k. It could be a LOT worse, we could have just spunked 35 million plus on Andy Carroll! Suckers!

I'm still waiting for a new signing to say something like:

"Signing for the club is not so bad I suppose. It's a club with a reasonable history, and I've had a look round the facilities and they're not bad, I guess."

Weird how much they all really want to be at their new clubs - I'm sure it's got burger all to do with money.

We needed a right-back, a left-sided midfielder and a striker. We got 2 central midfield players, one of whom regularly needs a wheelchair to get around. Another great transfer window for town.

I don't think we now need a striker?
If we give Priskin, wickham, murray, and scotland (if they are all here tomorrow) more good opportunities we should by the law of averages get more goals. Plus good deadball players may deliver a few goals from midfield

WickedBlue. Wise words sir. Now we should start creating chances for our potentially good strikeforce.

Another ball player - good, so now we have at least two corner takers who can clear the first man. We need ball players so I don't know what Daleything is on about.
Daleythingy, we've got strikers haven't you noticed? They just need service.

I have heard that Spurs are back in for wickham along with Newcastle. Hope it's not true !!
Mind you having failed to sign every striker in Spanish league Redknapp may chance his arm !

fantastic and for those that say we need a striker, rubbish! We have three/four decent ones. Scotland is an out and out poacher but with the rubbish service he has had from a defenisive midfield he hasnt stood a chance, now with two play makers we will see goals coming from all over!!! Oh and teams wont see giving us a corner or free kick as the 'easy way out' option any more, bring it on!

Well said Bluelady thats what Ive thought all along particularly with Scotland we aint seen nothing yet Scotland IS a natural poacher Gary Liniker style like you say give him the right to roam and the service then watch thsoe goals fly in the net!!!!

Three things proven today :-

If you go to the lower leagues for players then most will fall over themselves to sign - just as expected.

50 Million for Torres - 35 Million for Carroll - proves we are all paying too much to watch Football.

Jim Magilton, having almost signed Andy Carroll whilst Manager - could spot a player, and potential bargain.

Crazy world - Football even crazier.

Cleggy's missing a trick tonight! While Liverpool are guilible, desperate and splashing the cash, we should sell them Lisbie at a "bargain" knock down price of £15 million!

Tell them we'll take 12 million for cash!

Sign Kevin Phillips on loan for the rest of the season, he will score goals and wants to start games, what have we got to loose we can't sign young strikers that are sought after. I wonder if we are one of the championship clubs after Iwelumo as there are not many strikers left out there to buy in this transfer window.
