Jewell Dismisses King Link
Jewell Dismisses King Link
Thursday, 10th Mar 2011 10:43

Town manager Paul Jewell says he has made no contact with either Marlon King’s agent or Coventry City regarding the controversial striker. One of this morning’s papers claimed the Blues were eyeing the Jamaican international frontman.

Jewell said: “I tried to sign Marlon King when I was at Derby, but I haven’t made any enquiries to Coventry or his agent.

“His agent might have made a call to someone but I haven’t had any contact. I don’t want to say it’s nonsense, it’s just not true.”

although he is a thug, he is a good striker who has proved himself he would have been a good signing tbh

His antics off the pitch would always override anything off the pitch. Don't need him at a family club. Got to be strikers out there just as good [ if not better ] without the baggage. IMHO.

Haha that made me laugh MAVERICK but i am a bit childish:-D My question would be is we couldn't be any more mid table if we tried and are 1 of just a few clubs with absolutley no chance of going up or down this season. So with this in mind why not play Murray rather than sending him on loan. Surely that's best way to see if he can make it next season with us. King would be short term and were not desperate in the short term, ie the rest of this season.

I always give every player who signs for town a blank canvas, support and welcome them regardless of their history but in this case I just couldn't see how I could, I don't think there is a place in the game for this thug let alone our club. Just my personal opinion of course.

I sincerely hope there is no truth in this rumour!! I have been a supporter of Town for over 20 years, and a season ticket holder since 1997. But, as a woman (with morals, principles - and a young daughter), I would seriously have to think about renewing my season ticket if this thug is allowed in to our club! I just can't see myself cheering if he scored for us!

I'm with you poggie which flaws the doesn't matter what happens of pitch theory, we don't want a player the fans are in the main very very much against ad it will impact on what happens on pitch.

I can imagine Jimmy "the clown" Bullard bouncing around the place and taking the p*ss out of Marlon. King would probably get very angry and pop a few caps.

At least PJ has the sence to deny the story immediately.

Canarykiller- if it had been your wife/girlfriend/daughter/sister he attacked and showed absolutely no remorse (demonstrated by the pathetic appeal he launched), would you still not care "what goes on off the pitch"? So you're saying we should banish all morals and principles when a player crosses the white line? As loads of other people have said, footballers are role models for many young people - that's why their behaviour off the pitch is of such importance.

I hope Paul Jewel doesn't entertain any thoughts of this. I'm another who would return my season ticket. See also Lee Hughes. No place for these scum in football imho, and certainly not at our club.

canarykiller U are beneath contempt. So its ok to sign this guy becos his actions weren't against anyone you know? You sad excuse for a man. King is lucky to even be walking the streets.

Sorry canarykiller I can not condone or cheer a women beater playing in our team how ever good he is. I mean where does it stop!? for example would you sign a convicted rapist because he was a world class footballer? & by what your kinda saying you would.
