Town Again Linked With Nugent
Town Again Linked With Nugent
Saturday, 30th Apr 2011 12:52

Town are reported to be among the clubs eyeing a summer move for Portsmouth striker David Nugent. The 25-year-old looks certain to leave Fratton Park when his contract is up at the end of June and has also been mentioned in connection with QPR, Blackpool and Bolton.

Nugent, who has scored eight goals in eight games against the Blues and has netted in every match he has played at Portman Road, was a frequent loan target of former Town boss Jim Magilton during his time in charge at Portman Road.

The former Bury and Preston striker, who scored on his only appearance for England against Andorra in 2007, has grabbed 13 goals this season, including the first as Pompey beat the Blues 2-0 at Portman Road in February after which he said he thrives on the booing he receives on his visits to Suffolk.

Formidable !
We should know better. He hates us. We hate him. And we'd have to pay him too much.

Any chance of some real imagination here ?

Didn't want to play for us before - and we were doing better then. Can't see him wanting to sign this time - particularly after the abuse he receives from our fans.

I can't believe people think Nugent is out of our league. I know he always scores against us, but he isn't even a regular championship scorer. Have we sunk that low? we actually need to find someone who can score regularly and has the potential to do it in the premiership.

Try and sign him but if he says no take it and move on lets not let it drag on into a saga.

Billy Sharp and/or Shane Long.

Or how about N'Gog (probably on loan) from Liverpool as they will surely bring in someone else and they don't need him with Carroll, Surarez and Kuyt.

Like it or not Nugent is a decent striker - one of the few mentioned that are worth paying the cash for (and Nugent will be even for free). I would be exceptionally happy it this happens but I just don't believe it. It is may be because all the journalists know that we have a "thing" about Nugent and now they are putting him on the spot...

i hope pj ends up signing at least two strikers, that would force him to put two up front!jason scotland , i think, has struggled because we stopped playing two up front, week after week he struggled, some good days some bad but overall did better up front with two.every time he looked like forming some sort of partnership either one or the other was dropped from stead to wickham.if he did sign nugent could you actually picture him doing the same job as jason has done this season? i think not.i think we need a tall centre forward or failing that a quick one,we've got wickham and carson even martin as wide out lets get a decent striker who can stop the ball coming straight back at our defence.
