Bullard Player of the Year
Bullard Player of the Year
Saturday, 30th Apr 2011 21:05

On-loan midfielder Jimmy Bullard has won Town's Player of the Year award. The Hull City man, who joined the Blues in January, finished ahead of last year's winner Gareth McAuley in second and Connor Wickham in third.

Bullard, who has two years remaining on his £45,000-a-week deal with the Tigers, has scored five goals in 16 games in one of the club's most impressive ever loan spells.

The one-time England call-up received his gong at this evening's Supporters' Club Players' Awards evening at Greshams. It's the first time a loan player has picked up the award.

Northern Irish U21 international midfielder Josh Carson won the Dale Roberts Trophy for the Academy Player of the Year.

McAuley was named the Away Match Passport Holders' Player of the Year.

Chicory I get your point, I do get fed up with so much negativity, but also think some of the team have a lot to answer for, trust me though I'm a cup half full gal!!

As a matter of interest im pleased for jimmy but I personally went for a far more controversial vote in Edwards!!! Outspoken yes, few poor games but not once complained about being played out of his favourite position, got his head down and really looked up for it most games........

I like Jimmy and he has certainly made a gr8 impact but not since Ian Westlake took the award has this been so lacking in credibility.

Ben Shepherd to Jimmy Bullard on Goals on Sunday - 'so if Hull and Ipswich could sort out a deal and they had a contract for you to sign for Ipswich next season would you sign it?' Jimmy - 'yes, I love it there..' SORT IT OUT AND SIGN HIM UP!!

bullard thoroughly deserves the award for the impact he had on our season, he basically gave us fans a massive lift and hope when we were staring a relegation dogfight straight in the face. so for all those people giving it the 'he wasn't here for the season' nonsense, give it a rest. you can wax lyrical all you like about macauley but the defense hasn't exactly been covered in glory this season. on reflection this result is fair because bullard gave us so much in a season otherwise devoid of entertainment.

Good on Jimmy tbh he deserves to win it, although maybe GM should of won it i mean he's the most consistent player in our squad but then again Jimmy is still better. Well done Bullard!

Town have been a different team with Jimmy Bullard in it, and against teams like the scum, he was the only player who actually stood up and was counted, for all those saying a loan player winning is embarassing, is it not more embarassing that a Hull City player showed more heart and passion against Norwich than players that are Ipswich players? So he has not an OFFICIAL ipswich player, i'm proud of the way he has played and proud to have had him in my team for the past few months, so why can't I vote for him? McAuley didn't even walk around the pitch at the end, some player of the season? Wickham was injured and yet he still walked around. All the buzz at the players awards last night was around Bullard, he was fantastic around the fans and was having a right laugh with everyone. Norris was asked about the contract, and it still seems he has not been offered 3 years and thats why he has no contract at the moment. I hope Bullard signs, but if he doesn't, I hope someone comes to the club and is proud to wear the shirt and put in a 90 minute shift, and not a 20 minute shift!

This is most of all telling us what kind og fans we are. Bullard has scored some decent goals, but he's also been a liabilty related to giving the ball away in dangerous positions. McAuley should have been the player of the year. I guess a lot of us voted for Carson as well.. Gsus!

Good job it's called palyer of the year and not season then, having been here only in 2011. Agree with the vote, but Connor Wickham 3rd..........please.......underacheivement this season big time, needs to put more into the game and stop swanning about thinking about how good he supposedly is...............as yet nobody is coming forward with this 10 million.....anyone ever wondered why?

who won it last year?

Ridiculous. He should not even have been eligible for the award as a loan player. Everyone who voted for him should feel ashamed and embarrassed at this ludicrous result.

My guess is that Bullard will be totally embarassed to have won this - he has undoubtedly made a difference to the team, but McAuley should have won it regardless of if he signs for Rangers, Ipswich or whoever.
If he does move then this club, and it's incompetency at certain levels, has only itself to blame.
I repeat - he will not be easy to replace, adequately anyway.

Only serves to prove that some people do not know what they are watching, or perhaps anything much about the game.
