Bullard Player of the Year
Bullard Player of the Year
Saturday, 30th Apr 2011 21:05

On-loan midfielder Jimmy Bullard has won Town's Player of the Year award. The Hull City man, who joined the Blues in January, finished ahead of last year's winner Gareth McAuley in second and Connor Wickham in third.

Bullard, who has two years remaining on his £45,000-a-week deal with the Tigers, has scored five goals in 16 games in one of the club's most impressive ever loan spells.

The one-time England call-up received his gong at this evening's Supporters' Club Players' Awards evening at Greshams. It's the first time a loan player has picked up the award.

Northern Irish U21 international midfielder Josh Carson won the Dale Roberts Trophy for the Academy Player of the Year.

McAuley was named the Away Match Passport Holders' Player of the Year.

What is this obsession with McAuley?

Bullard fully deserves it because without him coming in and obviously adding something not only on the field but in the dressing room there was a very good chance of being dragged into a relegation fight

And as for Norris, he might have scored a few goals but the majority of his performances has been completely rank. Good luck at Portsmouth!!!!

It's quite simple.

McAuley and Norris were part of that disastrous run from October to January - it wasn't necessarily their fault, but they were still in the team - they haven't signed new contracts and opinion on their performances on this forum has been, to say the least, divided.

On the other hand, Bullard's arrival coincided with the upturn in form after Jewell's arrival, he's a dynamic and lively personality, he's given Town crucial set-piece-taking abilities - we can now score from corners and free-kicks! - and he's scored some cracking goals (5 in 16 appearances - almost 1 in 3, which is a better ratio than Wickham, Scotland or Norris).

How can a player who has been here since January win, it called player of the season. It was always given to a player who had been consistent over a season. McAuley has been that this season.
The Norwich result was embarrassing, this will make us a laughing stock

My question is where was big mag yesterday, other injure dplayers came for lap of honour but he wasn't around...... well done jimmy, nothing to do with internet vote, the sheet I saw at the ground jb was streets ahead of anyone else!!!! Just shows fans love a player who plays with his heart on his sleeve, Jamie peters being a dine example too.

Totally outrageous that a Hull City player was voted Ipswich Town playerof the year. What a fickle bunch of so called supporters we have!

its strange that a guy whos only been here since january.Least colback was here for the whole season but saying that bullard has been wounderful since his been here boyh on and of the pitch.Could do with a few more players with a similar attitude

So there it is then, for two consecutive seasons a loan player gets the fans vote for Player of the Year.

Says it all for me, regarding our "own" players in this woeful squad.

Complete squad clear out gratefully received and encouraged this summer PJ

For those saying "he was only here for half of the season", if Norris had left for Portsmouth in January, would that have made him ineligible, despite his effort and goals?

And the award is "Player of the Season", not "ITFC-Owned Player of the Season". While Bullard is here, he's ours, playing for our team.

And, anyway, an award like this is always going to go to an impact player rather than a solid, but undramatic, workhorse.

And, as has been pointed out further up (and in the article!), it was McAuley who won this award last year. Colback won a different one - Players' PotS not Fans' PotS.

Did anyone on this forum attend last nights awards ?
If so you would have had the opportunity to tell, Scotland, Leadbitter, Norris, Delaney, Fulop, Edwards, Macauley, etc, etc, how poor they have been this season. ( Like you do when posting after a game )

No i thought not !!

Chicory poor state of affairs if we need to tell them how bad they have been at times, surely they will be fully aware!!!! For once and all a loan player did not win last year big MAC did, but where was he after the game?!!!!

This wasn't decided by the stupid AV system of voting was it?
Crazy that loan players should be in the pioll to start with.

And I wish people would take more care with the spelling the players' names. It's McAuley for goodness sake. How would you like like it if your name was consistently mis-spelt?

Bluelady...It's easy to verbally abuse everything connected to ITFC, hiding behind the anonimity of a PC.
My point was that did those who may have attended have the, B**ls to express their feelings face to face !!
