Preston's Treacy Again Linked With Town Move Monday, 30th May 2011 09:13
Preston winger Keith Treacy is expected to join the Blues on his return from international duty with Ireland, according to one of this morning’s tabloids. Treacy, 22, was first mentioned in connection with Town on Saturday.
Today’s report also claims Portsmouth are the favourites to sign Treacy’s club and international team-mate Sean St Ledger. The Blues are also understood to be interested in the 26-year-old centre-half having had a bid turned down in January.
Dubliner Treacy, who is valued at around the £1 million mark, came on as an 83rd minute sub and won his fourth Republic of Ireland cap last night as his side beat Scotland 1-0 to claim the Carling Nations Cup.
Former Town loanee Darren O’Dea was also in the team, taking over from Blues central defender Damien Delaney, who had played in Tuesday’s 5-0 defeat of Northern Ireland and was an unused sub. St Ledger pulled out of the squad due to a knee injury.
The Republic of Ireland take on Macedonia in a Euro 2012 qualifier in Skopje on Saturday.

I know nothing about him really, but it would be great to get an early signing in and start the ball rolling.... Let's hope it's not hot air again. So is Treacy any good then? I am afraid I don't get to many Town games these days.
st ledger is what id prefer.Any good team builds from the back. Jewell maybe thinking of moveing 1 of our wide players into where norris played in the middle. We have to consider that Jewell moved Edwards to right back.We maybe plesently suprised with a bit of juggling around of our present squad and a few new signings.
Would be a great signing and exactly what we need at the moment. Our squad desperately lacks any pace (particularly out wide) and someone who can scare defences. Martin and Carson can to a certain extent but Treacy is excellent too.
As for St Ledger, we need a CB but i'm not convinced he's the answer. I know his name has been mentioned a lot but on the 4 or 5 times i've seen him this season he's looked awful.
Just sign someone for christ sake, they wonder why the season ticket sales are lower than last season......we're fed up of false hope! Sign St Ledger, sign this lad, sign a decent striker or two and do it before all the decent ones are gone.
Clegg has no idea how to operate in the football world, get rid of him!
Unfortunately I believe Pompey will be flush with cash again this season. They will have paid 5p in the £1 to the adminidtrators and will get c.£14m parachute payment this season.
Pot calling the kettle black if we have a go at them though.
I imagine that all of the people saying "just sign someone" will be the 1st to slate them when they flop, i would much rather be patient for the right people than sign someone just for the sake of it.
Olofinjana - Decent midfield player, scores a few as well. Burke - Looked a decent tricky player. Whittingham - Quality but would expect him to go elsewhere. Lee Naylor - Finally solve our full back problem?
SIgn someone sign anyone? Are you crazy? You comparing RK to PJ...and PJ is better in the transfer market than RK. He will sign who HE WANTS TO SIGN when he's able..as for slating Clegg I wish people would get off the guys back....he has to work with in a budget outlined by ME. All he can do is offer what he can within that budget....if the player thinks he can do better else where than he is going to turn it down...that has nothing to do with Clegg. All you Clegg slaters have some kind of perverse need to have someone to blame when things don't happen like they do on CM or FM. I suggest you back off realize that we live in the real world and grow up and learn to be patient....
How can pompey afford st ledger? i didnt think they need a cb anyway. Again, wouldve been nice to have got him, probably more so than treacy. Hes a decent signing himself though, an exciting player.
