Town Reportedly Leading Race for Nosworthy
Town Reportedly Leading Race for Nosworthy
Sunday, 5th Jun 2011 21:37

Town are leading the race to sign Sunderland defender Nyron Nosworthy, according to a report in the North-East. The 30-year-old was linked with the Blues last month and then again earlier this weekend.

Nosworthy, who can leave the Stadium of Light on a free transfer despite having another year left on his contract, is believed to have spoken with the Blues, Reading and Crystal Palace.

The one-time Gillingham man was previously targeted by Town during his former Sunderland boss Roy Keane’s time at Portman Road and earlier by Joe Royle when he was manager of the Blues.

I am beginning to think the news forum is a comedy act.....do you lot realize how many times in the last 40 years we have signed someone who people were shouting he was crap at so and so club, their supporters think he is crap, only for this player to go on and be brilliant here?

The most recent example of that was Bullard...all you heard on here was he is fooked or he is too old, over the hill...Hull supporters think he's crap always out injured and even when he did play he was crap....Give this guy a chance if he signs....yu already knocking him before he's kicked a ball for us....PJ obviously thinks enough of him to want to sign him and he knows more about what he feels he can bring out of a player than all of you me and anyone else put together....he's our Manager and he knows what he i doing...so chill....

The situation gets more & more depressing. Every time we are linked to a player it seems that the quality of that player is such that it further reminds me that we are now just an average championship team & likely to stay that way for a considerable time. The sad thing of course is that Roy Keane wasted enough money to build a good squad & I suspect ME will be much more cautious with his spending in future

Well,a average player for sure. However its puzzling we are only a average team, and its pretty obvious were not going to spend much on players anyhow. So its a bit rich saying hes only average,we can do better ect, well can we?And once again,he would fit in perfectly with a lower to mid table, average team anyhow.Oh i wouldnt worry, tomorrows twtd headline will be,nott f,hull, doncaster ect,now lead chase for noseworthy.

I we did get him it would be to provide competition for Edwards in the right back slot. I very much doubt he would be a regular at centre back other than if we get a couple of injuries
He made his name at Gillingham as a quality energetic attacking full back

TractorRoyNo 1 - that's clearly made up as club budgets don't work like that. There will be a budget to spend but it will include transfers fees and wages. Given those that have been released (Norris, McAuley for starters) there will be plenty of budget spare.

I hope this is not true. Would be a very poor signing I'm afraid. Just ask the Sheffield United fans what they think of this guy.

Just because we are leading the race does not mean we will finish ahead of other teams!
