TWTD understands that League One Sheffield Wednesday are interested in signing Town striker Jason Scotland. The 32-year-old looks set to move on this summer with manager Paul Jewell having added Michael Chopra to his squad and with an offer in for another frontman.

The Trinidad and Tobago international scored 10 goals in 35 starts and 10 sub appearances last season, having signed from Wigan for £750,000 in August, but failed to convince new manager Jewell that he is the man to fire the Blues back into the Premier League and his days at Portman Road appear numbered.

Scotland, who has a year left on his Town contract, was close to returning to his former club Swansea on loan in February but the move broke down after the clubs were unable to agree a financial package.

If they firm up their interest, Wednesday may also have trouble agreeing a deal with Town with the former Dundee United and Dunfermline man likely to be on a significant wage having joined the Blues from a Premier League club.

Reading striker Noel Hunt continues to be linked, with a local Berkshire paper claiming that the Irishman, who was first mentioned in connection with the Blues on Monday, is the striker for whom Jewell has made an offer. Hunt is currently at a coaching camp in the US and has played down the reports via Twitter: "First I heard of it!"

Jewell's former Wigan striker Nathan Ellington has also been linked by one of the tabloids in the wake of TWTD Message Board claims that he was the player at Portman Road on Monday. The 29-year-old is a free agent having been released by Watford after spending the second half of the season on loan at Preston.

Meanwhile, Spurs right-back Adam Smith, who Town and a number of other Championship sides approached towards the end of the season while he was on loan at Bournemouth, says he’s yet to make up his mind about his future.

Tottenham have now offered the 20-year-old new terms with his current deal up this summer but he says he could decide to move on to play senior football: “Spurs have offered me a new contract, but I'm not sure whether I want to stay there or not because I want to be playing regular first team football and reserve football isn't going to cut it really.

"Going out on loan again is an option for me, but I've had offers from other teams about making a permanent switch, so I've got a big decision to make between now and the start of pre-season.”

Elsewhere, Blackburn’s Jason Roberts has committed himself to Rovers having dismissed reports he was to join the Blues yesterday: “I am happy at Blackburn and I am looking forward to next season already.”

Posted this before. I really wish I knew just how many sitters both Scotland and Priskin have missed. Their job is to score, both in my opinion should be done under the trades discription act.

we should keep scotland, priskin, chopra, wickham and sign up ellington, noel hunt and ched evans. murray and lavery out on-loan.
wickham can play left wing anyways and noel hunt is known to be able to play right wing. this would leave us with;
fulop,
ingimarrson, smith, delaney, whight
hunt, leadbitter, hyam, wickham
chopra, scotland

with ellington, priskin and super Andy Drury in reserve.
with this team,we will be top 6

Will be disappointing to see him go, he may not have worked so hard but 10 goals out of 35 starts isn't that bad. We should depart with Priskin and let Scotland take the bench, how much they offering for him?

In a 4-4-2 I still think he will score. Give someone else the donkey work and let him focus on getting in the box. Ericgates, you mention Leicster game, he had fallon. Preston last season at home he had Murray and people around me thought he was much improved. Cardiff when he had wickham at home he scored again and had a good game.

I've never really liked scotland, but beginning to think tht we shld be keeping him. Adds some xtra strength and bulk up front. He just needs the options!

If Swansea couldn't match his wage demands, I fail to see how Sheffield Wednesday could. He will stay at Town to see out his contract

Ellington has 10 goals in his last 97 games for English clubs. Has been poor everywhere since he left Wigan. Don't fancy it myself

A friend in Scotland who is a St Johnstone fan has just sent me a newspaper cutting from 2006 when Jason Scotland was a Saints player in his factfile it states he weight as 11st 9lbs. I think today you can add 2 stone plus to that. Enough said!

Yep, ship him out.

Priskin has a lot to show, and is probably one of the best players we have in terms of being able to control the ball and hold it up - unfortunately we have been playing him up front on his own whenever he has played.

Plus, I think a lot of haters getting on his back, some of which are probably from this forum, have not exactly done his confidence a lot of good, have they?

Matt Derbyshire would be a very good signing. Would be happy with him. As for Scotland I have mixed feelings - may be worth keeping and having on the bench but would be an expensive sub in terms of wages I would have thought

Tbh i would of said to let scotland go with no hesitation, however people who say he's a good finisher is right just he can't run, head, or has much imagination for the game. Do we want a player who needs the wingers to place the ball at his feet 30cm from the goal line? No we don't, but i would now keep him till December, and if he doesnt improve move him on. Wickham probably won't even be here next season, not if Liverpool and Spurs are after him.
Tamas keep him for another 6 months like Scotland and see how he goes.

yep i agree we must keep tamas, as his control is good and can hold the ball up, just remember when shefki came to us he was awfull to start with, but once he found his feet in a good team then he caem alive, as said tamas when he did come back into the side he spent most of it a a lone striker, i personaly hate that way to play football, if he played along side chopra or whickham were they can build an understanding then we will be sorted.

trouble with this club there has been to much chop and change over the last few years, just look how martin came back into the side he looked a different player.

so think it would be harsh to get rid now for tamas but give him a good run out and see how he goes.

just hope we can sort the midfield to supply these strikers though as not enough killer passes came out of the midfiled last year except when bullard came here. thats were we are lacking in my opinion

Talksport are certain that the player we are in negotiations with is Matt Derbyshire.
Looks like he wants to come back permanently to UK since his spell at Olympiakos.
Would be a VERY good signing. Fair enough-wasn't outstanding at Birmingham at the end of the season but many of his games were coming off the bench in the 87th minute- always difficult to make an impression.
Undoubtedly talented- but not a PHYSICAL presence like I was expecting (TBH I was expecting an Ellington/Roberts/Tyson kind of character). Very good striker nevertheless.....

Agree with Hogster1970 and others about Priskin ... he's been undervalued at the club, tainted by being a Keane signing and never had a fair chance. He's well worth keeping ..........
..... AND don't forget, he scored the goal of the season against the budgies !!!!!

Let him go for the right offer - he has lost his pace

Scotland was in my opinion unlucky last season. He just doesn't function particularly well in a one up front - which as we know PJ favoured 90% of the time both at home and away. When playing with support, he actually did okay - Preston at home is an example.

Having said that I wouldn't be disappointed if he left the club - but we need FOUR senior strikers if we are going to be contenders.

I reckon one of the two (Priskin and Scotland) will make way for a new striker. As good a natural goal scorer as he is, I think age/ fitness are no longer on his side, whereas Tamas is young enough to still come good.

Good luck to him if he goes though.
