Loach Would Love Town Return
Loach Would Love Town Return

Watford keeper Scott Loach says it would be a dream to play for Town one day. The 23-year-old was a schoolboy with the Blues academy between 1997 and 2000 before his family moved back to Nottingham where he had been born.

Asked on Twitter whether he’d consider a move back, the England U21 international responded: “Boyhood team, would be a dream to play there one day. So that's all I can say.”

While the 6ft 1in tall glovesman, whose early days with Town can be seen in a short film here, was probably making a more general point rather than issuing an immediate come and get me plea, he could well be amongst the keepers targeted by the Blues if, as expected, Márton Fülöp moves on this summer, Turkish side Bursaspor having made their interest known.

Later, Loach clarified his comment: "Guys, let's clear this up. [I] only said I'd like to play for a team I support one day. Just like I'm sure anyone would."

Loach, who moved to Suffolk with his family as a four-year-old, is contracted to the Hornets until 2013, having become established as their number one after loan spells at Stafford Rangers, Morecambe and Bradford earlier in his career.

Elsewhere, former Town defender Alex Bruce is set to swap international allegiance from the Republic of Ireland to Northern Ireland. Bruce’s two full caps came in friendlies so he is entitled to make the switch with a FIFA ruling in 2007 giving players who qualify for either nation the choice on who they represent.

Bruce's Irish grandmother is the basis for his qualification for both countries having been born in Bangor, County Down in Northern Ireland.

I seem to remember Watford wanted £3m+ for him in January, so would be out of our price range as things stand...

I wonder who asked him/prompted him to tweet that anyway?! Agreed he is a quality keeper and would be a great replacement should Fulop leave. Like others have stated though, I think Watford would be hard to persuade to part with him - but if you dont ask you dont know!

Rumour is that our first game of the season will be at home to Watford so would be interesting if we could pull this one off. Other opening day games West Ham v Barnsley and Birmingham v Millwall (only rumours though).

Sky sports also reporting that we are close to signing Nathan Ellington on a free.

Would love him to be number 1 but Westwood we should go all out for on a free and sell him the fact he will be number one here for many years. Also I have suspicion Mike Pollitt may be our keeper next season

Westwood is off to Sunderland I think. He is a premier quality keeper and deserves his chance in top flight.

If Mackay is off to Cardiff to speak about the managers job then now could be a good time to tempt a few players from the hornets. They have some quality players there.

Hopefully Fulop will stay put but if not I'd marginally prefer Lonegran as the new keeps owing to his size and experience.

Having said that Loach is, without a doubt, a decent young keeper and if he really wants to come back to PR then all the better.

After some of last seasons performances it's obvious the team could do with a few players who have an emotional investment in the club.

Arrr yes we deffo need a good keeper! Plus he's young so would be a good investement hopefully! Fulop is crap he's completly past his best days, and to get into the PL we need a good, authoritative, strong keeper who is logical and is calm under pressure! Get that sell ALB and fulop and then we need a sub keeper would of said Murphy but he's hot foot it.

We already have a great up and coming prospect goalkeeper at Town. Cody Cropper His first year as a pro starts this month so keep an eye on him.He is USA under 20s first team goalkeeper ,So must be a good prospect for Town. things are being kept very quiet about this young man at Town. I wonder why?

What's Barry Ferguson up to these days? Birmingham still want him? He was a youth at Ipswich once upon a time, sign him too!
