Kennedy: Players Need to Look at Themselves
Kennedy: Players Need to Look at Themselves
Monday, 22nd Aug 2011 11:37

Mark Kennedy says he and his fellow Town players need to take a “long hard look” at themselves after the Blues’ recent heavy defeats. The former Ireland international apologised to fans for Saturday’s latest thrashing at Peterborough.

Kennedy, a second-half sub at London Road, said: "A club like Ipswich shouldn't be performing like we did at Peterborough and hand on heart that boils down to the players. We all need to have a long hard look at ourselves and start taking responsibility for it.

"It wasn't good enough. We know that, and I think I speak on behalf of the rest of the lads in the dressing room by apologising to the fans and saying that we are determined to get things right."

He added: "Everybody in our dressing room has to appreciate how good our fans are. I've played in teams before where we have been winning at half-time and still been booed off.

“Here the fans have been right behind us in every match and we need to remember just how lucky we are to have fans like that supporting us, and the sooner we realise that, the better.”

Meanwhile, Wolves are the latest club to be linked with a move for Town target Jimmy Bullard, who is expected to become a free agent today after Hull City terminated his contract.

Maybe they should stop taking long hard looks at themselves and start tackling players that are about to run past them and score? Basics? Surely? Cant see saturday being 0-0 somehow.....

haven't we learnt anything from Nodge, Saints and Posh - we need young players with flare not "past-it", "has-beens" and "never likely to be's".
we have no pace and no guts
Andrews might be ok (but could could not get on the bench for Blackburn!!!!), but was brought to replace Kennedy as THE holding midfielder, Bowyer has been useless - so far - and looks to have come to Suffolk to retire, and puts in half the work that Norris did for the team.
Leadbitter should be ashamed to wear the armband of Mills, Butcher and Wark. Bullard could be great for us, but could also be the most overpaid player ever in the 3rd division.
I'd swap all the current midfield + Bullard for the young lads from P'boro + Boyd

I think Kennedy has looked ok in the holding midfield role and can pass the ball well, i would like to see him Andrews and Bowyer in the middle until bullard signs!!!

What's with all the spam mails (Sending advice on who to sign???). We do have scouts at the club who are sent out on "missions" by PJ and co. Fair enough, you may think they don't do a good job a lot of the time, but PJ + them know a lot more about the possibilities of signing these particular players. All sorts of factors have to be taken into account,- Age, Position, COST OF TRANSFER, COST OF WAGES, Agents Fee, Likelihood of Joining (would you join us at the moment?), Are they happy where they are?, Fitness, Skill, Potential, Likelihood of settling in at Ipswich?, Attitude to name but a few. I honestly think they could do better but its their professional job. Sending in Spams about signings is like giving advice to Doctors about how they should perform operations or giving teachers advice on how to teach. It doesn't help. I am sure the scouts are aware of these players predicaments and make decisions that they feel are best for the club (in view of our financial position).
Back to the real topic. Put Grant Leadbitter on e-bay and see how much we get for him. Give the captaincy to Kennedy,- afterall he is actually doing the job of Captain.

Oh and while we have e-bay open- put on Tommy Smith and Ainsley.
Can't see why we got rid of Tom Eastman. Yes, a truly terrible right back but he was definately better than these 2 when he played centre. Poor guy, constantly played out of position until he didn't have a future at the club.

PS- did you mean politicians? politicians is a medication used to treat spots.
Have a Great Day!!!
(and by the way- I am a Doctor,- as many will testify on this site- who does perform operations). Hence the fact I am up so early!

Keep spats to the playground both of you!
Sending e-mails ain't going to help and neither is talking about politicians.
GET BACK ON TOPIC- THIS TOPIC IS ABOUT MARK KENNEDY AND THE GAME!!!!!

victorywillhappen is at least positive AND trying to make a difference. Not like he is poisoning hot dogs on game day or something!
Kennedy should be Captain. Leadbitter should be sold. E-Bay is a good idea, but won't work. Who is going to want him?
Well done Kennedy. Good on Yer Son!

Looking at themselves isn't going to make much difference. Checking themselves out hardly pays dividends against Leeds.
I hope (fingers crossed) that we can get a score draw against Leeds. I think we have the firepower to score 2 or 3 goals but of its Delaney/Ainsley we will concede AT MINIMUM 3. My bet is on a 3-3 draw (optimistic). My realistic mode says 1-3 to them and my negative mode says 2-6 to them.
If we sign 3 players before the game we might have a slim chance of winning it. Leeds are good going forward and it will take time for our new defenders to get used to each other.

IMO we need to go for a 0-0- with a 6-3-1 formation
Stockdale,
Edwards, Peters, Ainsley, Delaney, Cresswell, Kennedy (all in defence)
Healy, Bowyer, Leadbitter
Chopra

Chopra will get exhausted on his own so will need replacing at 50 minutes (Scotland)
If we go 2 or 3 down, Priskin and Ellington should be on the bench.

We need to get a good scout who can write a decent report and workout how to play against a team that attacks well. Then we need defenders to actually talk to each other and put some effort in. We need to win on Saturday or the pressure is building and we not out of August yet. Players give your match wages to a good cause, like you gave the goals to Peterborough....

Victorywillhappen.

Don't think we need Jalal. Keeper is ok just needs more defensive cover. But Feeney is a good player but I think we are like Man City. Need to off load before bringing anyone else in. My choice Leadboots needs to go...

Here's my formation for the Leeds game.

11-0-0-0.

Put the whole lot of the tossers on the goal-line. Keep the score respectable.
