Town Charged By FA
Town Charged By FA
Thursday, 25th Aug 2011 16:49

The FA have charged Town with failing to control their players during last week’s 7-1 defeat at Peterborough.

The club is accused of “failing to ensure its players conducted themselves in an orderly fashion with respect to surrounding the match officials” during Saturday’s game, in which both Lee Martin and Tommy Smith were sent off, the first time the Blues had ever had two players dismissed in the same game.

Martin’s red card for a tackle on Peterborough full-back Mark Little was debatable, while Smith was clearly well outside the penalty area when he and Posh striker Lee Tomlin collided, despite referee Graham Scott awarding a spotkick.

Town have until 4pm on Tuesday 30th August to respond to the charge.

Can Town fine the FA for not controlling its officials decisions in the game?

Some acknowledgement of the bad decisions really wouldn't go a miss! The FA are utter rubbish and show themselves up over and over again. What can we do about this? This is just terrible considering the circumstances. We're basically getting fined because the staff employed by them are not up to the job.

FA should charge themselves with Incompetence for appointing such a cr*p referee

Lee Martin went in high with both feet, how was that not a sending off offence? The Smith red card was also right, but obviously not inside the area, so not a penalty, but all that said, Ipswich were thrashed by a better side on the day, three of our goals were borderilne offside, but not clear enough to give. The stats said Posh had 90% of the possession, enough said.

Not the least bit surprised tbh, FA always going to take the easier option out of the two.I know it would be down to us to make an appeal regarding some of the dreadful decisions during that match although I don't suppose we will as historically you never f'ing get anywhere. Not condoning surround the officials on mass btw as it always p*ssed me off when the likes of Man Utd used to do it.

Trouble is that the FA don't do themselves any favours by acting in such an incompetant and autocratic manner where any appeal is virtually doomed to meet with further punishment for having the temerity to appeal in the first place. Do they never look at officials performance and have a word with them. Can't wait for D'Urso on Saturday.

The FA- continually bringing the game into disrepute.

Are the officials to be charged with incompetance?

I think having to watch your team get beaten 7-1 at Peterborough is punishment enough...

I would like to know who orchestrates such a thing. Surely this would require the referee himself to lodge the charge or at the least agree with it? If that's the case then I hope town dig up the dirt about his performance in the last game.

neither was a red card first one got the ball and linesman never gave anything but a throw and the second was a collision at worst never a penalty and on another day not even a free kick would have been given its appalling

I take it the FA did not watch the ref's performance. Ask why the lineo did not flag over Martin's 'cough' sending off. Where is the rule that certain fouls 5 yards outside the box are a penalty?

Clearly a rule that excludes the top premiership clubs like Man United who do this on an almost weekly basis?!

Who isn't been amazed at how consistently wrong the FA gets it? This 'disciplinary' cr#p was all for the benefit of the Sky TV paymasters and audience and only got out of hand because of a referee who wanted to make examples out of players rather than keep it in perspective. We make bad decisions and we get punished. They make bad decisions and .... we get punished.

But its ok for a referee to make a decision about a red card and then award a penalty that was clearly outside of the area ? will he be on a charge too ?

Also the amount of swearing by premiership players every week needs to be looked at too !!

The FA should be charged for failing to control the entry standards to be a linesman. Penalty my eye, and Lee Martin winning the ball and getting sent off. Hmmm interesting decision Mr. Linesman...
