Town are offering fans the chance to definitively vote on whether goal celebration music will be played at Portman Road, and if so which tune will ring around the stands.
Some of the tracks up for the vote are the ones supplied to the Supporters’ Club when they asked for original tunes last season, while the new version of Singing the Blues played at the Southampton game, The Fratellis’ Chelsea Dagger and the options of none of the above or no music at all are also on the list.
To hear all the choices and to vote, visit the club site with the results to be announced prior to the Coventry City match on Monday 19th September.
Meanwhile, fans will be given the chance to celebrate their own Portman Road goals via an auction to raise money for the Sir Bobby Robson Foundation and Breakthrough Breast Cancer later in the year.
Bidders will be able to win a place in the teams for the match and training sessions under the guidance of Town stars from Robson’s era, while there will also be the opportunity to be a ‘club owner’ and sit in the directors’ box and make use of the boardroom facilities. Sir Bobby’s Breakthrough Auction will take place in October.

message to music wanters! phuck off to a pub or nightclub to those who like me do not want music then please go on the link or the town website and vote no for this pathetic attempt to create an atmosphere! start winning and play exciting football you will get a qaulity atmosphere
Even though I entered a piece that didn't make the shortlist, I'd still vote for no music as I can remember the days when there was none and I'm sure crowds used to be more vocal. PA at PR is an annoying,over-loud form of crowd control and I'm convinced the reason it's so quiet there these days.
@Bluearmy71 none taken, music as a whole is subjective at best, and let's face it football songs on the whole are dire. (Vindaloo and It Coming Home fall to mind. Awful songs that were fun to sing and got the country singing them). Though I personally find Asa's song pretty catchy, hearing it with the video gave me goose bumps. No matter what song is picked will not please everybody. For me the main thing is that it be original and not be used already by another club.
For those that vote no music. That would be fine if you made the noise we made years ago down at PR but it doesn't seem to happen anymore. There were times you could hear PR up on Rushmere Road where my sister lives. Today you can hardly hear anyone when your just outside the ground. If PR is a mausoleum how are you going to attract future generations to PR? Why would a young person choose to support us and not one of the big 6 clubs that win all the trophies? That is what you are up against. There have been times I could hardly speak for days after a game, part of the football experience is the atmosphere of the ground the noise, the passion. Music is used in films, TV, and in adverts to create a mood, define a scene or even to make you buy a product. And it works. Playing music will help create an atmosphere, and will boost the noise levels and might even get people who don't sing to join in.
Remember when we beat the scum 5-0, they put on 'Singing the Blues' and all four stands were singing. Last time I have heard us sing that loud. 'Singing the Blues is a rubbish song, but it was one we could all sing and identify with. So who cares too much about how good a song is? It has to be catchy, it has to be easy to remember, and it has to be original, in other words our own song.
I don't think we have any problem making noise after a goal, it's the 89 other minutes we struggle with. Just play a recording of a crowd during the game like they do at Chelsea, will make the place less of a library.
I have just emailled the following to the club. Who thinks I have a point?
I noticed that you are asking fans to vote for their favourite music to be played when goals are scored. Personally I like the idea of music, although I am in favour of a change from the current Chelsea Dagger tune.
However, what on earth are those options that we are being asked to vote for? Honestly, do you want us to be the laughing stock of the league? (we have got one or two players who are having a go giving us that reputation as it is).
Personally I would rather hear the “Samba De Janeiro” tune that Norwich play than any of those options! Although I hate hearing it played when we go there, I have to admit that the music they have chosen is brilliant
If you want some proper feedback PLEASE ask fans for their suggestions of music and THEN put the top 10 options to the vote.
In the meantime I have ticked the “no music” box because I feel that would be the best option currently available
I am MEGA encouraged that the vast majority of fans want to go back to having no music to accompany goals. It just feels so contrived and manipulative to me and is an unnecessary 'aid' to a game's atmosphere.
How about something from Bytes by the black dog; or something from the certificate 18 back catalog - maybe photek. Or hows about ubik or lexis, Klute or extreme noise terror...there's also Bleach but not such a fan. As long as it's not Nik Kershaw or Asa Jennings I'm happy.
These choices are poor. I would rathr have no music than any of those. We to need a chant to sing before kick off. I.e West ham have " forever blowing bubbles" Liverpool YNWA and even the budgies have a decent one in " on the ball city"
