Bruce Claimed to Be a Town Target
Bruce Claimed to Be a Town Target
Sunday, 4th Dec 2011 10:00

Town view recently sacked Sunderland manager Steve Bruce as a possible replacement for Paul Jewell, according to claims in one of this morning’s tabloids. Bruce, the father of ex-Blue Alex, left the Black Cats after two and a half years this week.

With Town’s run of defeats stretching to seven against Watford on Saturday, names of potential new bosses are starting to surface with Twitter claims of Peterborough’s Darren Ferguson being lined up and former Cardiff boss Dave Jones also rumoured to be a possible successor to Jewell.

Despite the run of losses, owner Marcus Evans gave his backing to the current incumbent on Wednesday, while Jewell ruled out resigning, and a change appears unlikely to be immediately in the offing.

Really Steve Bruce, how is he better than Jewell ? none of the names linked are good enough or any better than Jewell, I would go with a up & coming manager like Lee Clark. Think Jewell should be given the next two games to see if he can turn it around.

Sean O'Driscoll is not a bad shout, did will at Doncaster on a small budget and they played passing football, something we used to be known for!

Why not, it's not as if we can sign any ex-Sunderland cr@p as we have already signed all of them.

Not Bruce, no better than what we have had over recent years.

On a separate topic. The Barnsley game on Saturday is on Sky TV

A chance to show a wider audience that all is not bad at ITFC.

I really hope that powers that be read this - unlikely as it is!
The difference between a good manager and a great one is that the great ones can adapt. The game is always moving forward. Managers like Paul Jewell, Glenn Hoddle, Gordan Strachen we're good in their day but the game has moved on and they haven't with it - only the truly greats i.e. Sir Alex can!
If you look at the league it's no surprise that Southampton with Nigel Adkins, Cardiff with Malky Mackay and Brighton with Guy Poyet are at the top. Even Dougie Freedman is doing well with Palace. It has to be someone up and coming. I'm now off to post this on the "other" site in the hope someone will see it!

What's the name of the Manager who runs that pub team that plays near Hadleigh?

Time for a rethink. Bruce will work out the same as Keane or PJ.

Want a hungry manager who can play the Ipswich way and fit into the club. Bring in fresh ideas, look to get more players like Cresswell and develop our own youth. This for me would be a manager in the early stages of their career.

What we need, if and when the position does become vacant, is a young(ish) manager, who understands the "Ipswich" way; someone who has genuine pride in being associated with our club and believes in giving our youngsters a chance to prove themselves.

How about this for a couple of names to consider, either as a joint management team or individually, possibly working alongside a more experienced "mentor". The names: Russell Osman or Fabian Wilnis - two players who were Ipswich for a long time, still love the club and I believe would be proud to be its manager.

Debate?

This article shows why he would not be the man for us.It sounds like he has failed to move with the times...PJ and Bruce seem very similar in that respect.
