Lee-Barrett: Confident Town Chasing Three Points at Pompey
Lee-Barrett: Confident Town Chasing Three Points at Pompey
Tuesday, 14th Feb 2012 07:00

Arran Lee-Barrett echoed the thoughts of his Ipswich team-mates when he looked ahead to tonight’s trip to Portsmouth and said: “We’re going down there for the three points.”

The Town keeper’s positivity demonstrates the level of confidence in the Portman Road ranks after successive wins over the Championship’s top and bottom clubs, West Ham and Coventry, respectively.

Lee-Barrett added: “Our attitude is that we are going to Fratton Park looking for another win and I think that’s a good way to be.

“I hope the game goes ahead as planned. It would be very disappointing to get all the way down there and not play.

“We have prepared well. Despite the weather, the groundstaff at the training ground have done really well to keep us a pitch.

“There hasn’t been too much disruption to our preparations. We’ve been indoors one or two days but we’ve also had a good pitch to work on.”

Pompey, fresh from a battling performance that earned them a 1-1 draw at promotion-chasing Blackpool on Saturday, are set to go back into administration for the second time in two years.

Lee-Barrett has some sympathy for their plight, adding: “Every time a club is going through a bad patch it’s hard for the whole club. We have every respect for Portsmouth and we know it is going to be a tough game.

“But we’re not short of confidence after a decent run and we’re all working hard together to continue pushing away from the bottom end of the table.”

Good attitude from barrett talks well but, so does Paul Jewell at times.Lets wish Barrett and all the team well for this game and lets get them three points on offer. We need them as we are still not safe yet? COYB

Hopefully we'll get the three points, although my gut feeling is for a draw.

A win tonight and Portsmouth getting a 10 point deduction will go a long way to getting us safe

We should beat Pompey. Anything less will be disappointing.

Jas always talks up a game as being an easy win (when lets face it, anyone with any footy knowledge, knows it won't be easy), just so that he can rant and moan more when it's not as easy as he predicted. Dullard.

i'm glad ALB has got a run in the team! i actually think he's a decent keeper, and has been pretty unlucky with what has happened in recent years! maybe just needs a good run of clean sheets, and good performances and will be a good confident keeper - that's after we sort out our defence! i've got no problem with smith and cresswell though. I don't think it will be easy at all Jas. The troubles Pompey are having is likely to unite the players and they will try even harder. Their fans will really get behind them if they see players giving 110% and the fact we tried to poach 3 of their players will make matters worse although they could turn on the club and board should we take the lead. Even taking into account our excellent record there and our improved confidence following a couple of wins, I would settle for a draw and ITFC fans having a safe night. A win would be nice though
