Town Suspend Bullard
Town Suspend Bullard

Town have suspended midfielder Jimmy Bullard for two weeks after an alleged drinking session earlier this week which saw the 33-year-old and striker Michael Chopra turn up to Thursday training more than an hour late. The one-time England call-up, who joined the Blues after his Hull contract was terminated after an alleged indiscretion on a pre-season trip to Slovenia, and Town’s top scorer spent Tuesday and Wednesday nights out in Chopra’s home city of Newcastle.

Manager Paul Jewell, who made the duo train with the youth squad on their return, is understood to have told Bullard to stay away from Town while the club decide what further action to take. The Blues boss has launched an investigation and will comment after Saturday’s game against Bristol City. Chopra, who has not been suspended, could also face action.

Several senior members of the Town squad were in London on Tuesday for a bonding session, enjoying drinks and a meal in the West End when the pair relocated their evening to Newcastle, where Chopra spends most of his time off with his young son.

The duo were spotted by a large number of Tweeters in various Newcastle night spots on both nights, including bars named Bijoux and Perdu, with a claim that at one stage the Blues midfield man was seen with his trousers down. Bullard was also said to be at a casino on Wednesday with his former Hull team-mate Nolberto Solano and Stoke’s Cameron Jerome.

In addition to Bullard, veteran Peruvian international Solano is also set for trouble as he missed a reserve game with his current club Hartlepool, manager Neale Cooper commenting: “Nobby didn't turn up, I cannot really comment at the moment. He was meant to be there, but never appeared. We will see what happens after that.''

New signing Ryan Stevenson, veteran Lee Bowyer or Northern Ireland international Josh Carson could take Bullard’s place on the Town bench for the Bristol City match.

this is gunna upset the camp tomorrow! not good timing at all. Hopefuly it might wake a few players up. I bet bullard understands hes done wrong but they have to suspend him to teach the youngens not mess around! i've seen bullard in liquid and around drinking. He's a funny guy who likes to enjoy life. Would hate to see this turn in to anything more.

Read the story folks. It looks like Chops was not out drinking on Wednesday night. Hence no punishment.

Why do we bother with Bullard, and I'm so disappointed in Chopra, the club have shown him massive support as have the supporters. Neither of these guys are young, so no excuses for either of them, they are both pathetic, just pathetic and none of you should show them support on here. Hope they are both dropped tomorrow and a firm stance is taken...Bullard should have his highly priced contract terminated with immediate effect, really feel for PJ!!

no harm in a bit of a session every now and then, it keeps the mind focused, all work and no play makes ..........................might as well do it while you are young because the hangovers are 10 times worse once you older.. believe me

JB wont be here next season. PJ will not take that disrespect at £18k a week. And what a prat taking Chops knowing what history he has with addictions to certain things. know now why hull got rid. The whole x mas thing seemed a bit far fetched. was it really a cold? Ship JB out now to whoever will take him really we dont need to pay a clown to entertain the team.
As for some of the players here: Carlos will be offered a new contract but not at the significant high wages he wants so i see him moving on. Can see sick note Bowyer not being renewed and Ellington will be on his way too. I see the days for lottery style pay deals not happening any more in the championship as clubs are just not making it financially. I am glad in a way we have Clegg who bring s financial stability and stops this club going down the route of others.

I remember Hull fans on here telling us he's nothing but trouble before we signed him, and we'd regret it. JB has his contract he wanted and now he doesn't give a toss.

Get rid asap, and put Carson on the bench.

This could be the excuse you were looking for Cleggy to get rid of JB and save some money

A great sadness, that someone as talented as Jimmy, feels the need to do something as stupid as this in a week leading up to a game. Also, this shows just what a weak person Mr. Chopra really is and how easily he is led astray. Once again, too much time and too much money = too much trouble.

Bottom line is that every fan that goes, in this case part of my season ticket money is paying for this................Not sure what chopra has done but Bullard has clearly overstepped the mark, surely there must be a breach of contract the club can get him on and terminate?..........great loan signing but once contracted it is evident he is a timewaster compounded by complete loss of form........get rid, free up the wage bill please.

Assume Bullard has been suspended for the trousers round the ankles episode. Pathetic human being as far as I am concerned. Not the first time he has caused problems this season either.

As for Chopra he needs to give the club a few assurances about his future conduct or come the end of the season I would get rid along with Bullard.

Sorry but the club has bailed him out of serious trouble and he needs to pay that back with a rather large piece of respect for what they did and stay out of trouble.

Obviously there are some players who see Bullard as a bit of a lad and someone to hang around with. The sooner he is gone the better. Bad influence on the younger players!

Can't suspend Chopra because we lent him £250,000 and he wants them golden boots.

Was a big JB fan, delighted he signed...... now I think he is a sad sad individual who rather than being good for the dressing room is a seriously bad influence. Chopra needs support from all those around him at a very key stage in his recovery.....well done JB just the support he needs NOT. I hope he is dismissed and no other team will take him, once or twice is human error but for JB he never learns and clearly has no respect for anyone including himself.

Isn't chopra under a drivIng ban at present so was dependent on Bullard driving him back for training on time? Hardly chopra's wrongdoing if his mate was hungover and let him down, hence no suspension.

I met some Hull fans at the Peterbrough services on the A1 after our 1-0 defeat earlier in the season. They couldn't believe we wanted to sign him, they hated him and told me he was trouble. Looks like they could be right!

The difference between Chops and Bullard, Chops has in the last few weeks got his head and started to work for the team, giving something back to PJ and the fans who stood by him. But JB has been nothing more than an expensive joke since his return, the bloke is a disgrace - terminate his contract ASAP!

Bullard does not drive either. Remember the caught in traffic at London road seen running to the ground incident by fans. bullard was being driven himself
