Dundee United: We've Received No Bids
Dundee United: We've Received No Bids
Friday, 11th May 2012 21:09

Dundee United have released a statement insisting that they’ve had no bids for any of their players but conceding that if they received “substantial offers” they would have to be considered. Earlier today, the Blues were linked with central defender Gavin Gunning, while Swansea were claimed to be targeting winger Gary Mackay-Steven and striker Johnny Russell was also said to be receiving interest.

While some sources in Scotland continue to report that the SPL club has received enquiries for some or all of those players, the Terrors statement reads: “Dundee United are disappointed to read what we regard as unsubstantiated rumours in today's media relating to our players. We have received no formal offers for any of our players and indeed would not welcome any such offers.

“We are realistic of the current financial climate within football and if substantial offers for any of our players which exceed the valuations we place on our players were submitted, we would consider such bids.

“The manager is currently engaged in attempting to enhance the squad for next season after another highly successful campaign and each of our contracted players are seen as integral parts of our future squad. We remain committed to providing our loyal supporters with the best possible team on the park.”

Sindre - the Leeds joke is old, because I am old. Fact.

But at least I understand the language, young fella. Think about what you just posted: "he looks promising at least. Anyone seen him?"

How the hell can he look promising to you if you haven't even seen him?

Sounds promising maybe ... but looks promising?

Tsk, tsk.

Congratulations big al, you've crossed the line of racism, probably by ignorance though as your 3 comments suggest you have not been on this site. Sunder is Norwegian, so English wouldn't be his first language, though this is probably one of the few times you'd notice.

Re the story though, I'd be surprised if any scottish club could resist any bids for their players. There is currently no tv rights for next season and considering rangers current predicament there will be very few takers, as only Celtic would be of interest.

BigAl, Sindre is from Norway so there's a possibility of the words being lost in translation, but his English and grammar is probably better than most of ours!
At the moment Pearce never wanted to come to us so Leeds didn't really steal him and media speculation is that Ward is Leeds bound, he's not actually signed for them yet so I guess some could well soon start to tire of the Leeds cracks.

Big Al. I have been reading Sindre's messages for a long while and it never occurred to me that English wasn't his first language. So, as we are being smart-arsed pedants perhaps you could explain why you preceded a quote with a colon rather than a comma please?

Big Al - Sindre is Norwegian. I am Singaporean. Nevermind if you don't know where Singapore is, you only need to know that Ipswich has an international following that you should be proud of!!!

At this point of time, any links to a CB would be interesting as this is one area we need to tackle fast. PJ took a gamble by bringing in Reading's ex-

Pairing of Ivar & Sonko but it didn't work out. The writings were already on the wall, both chaps have aged and were not good enough, thus released by Reading.

Hope PJ works harder than last summer in sorting out the deficiencies in the team and bring in good signings - not EPL has-beens at exorbitant wages, but young & hungry players who are here to play for the club at reasonable wages.

Those 3 mouse-keteers from Pompey, please let them go elsewhere, they are never interested to play for us. If Ward joins us, Clegg must have met his $$$ expectations, but he won't be playing with heart & soul. Period.

I still wonder why the scouts have mostly been looking at the same crop of players other championship sides are going after. Why can't they acquire interest, from the likes of Martin Reuser, Pablo & Sixto from other leagues???

Sounds to me make us a offer so if we are interested lets get in there quick if it's true what they are saying that there is no offers before someone else does

Pull your finger out Town ffs, there seems to be a pattern emerging regarding us and losing out on players we're 'supposingly' chasing doesn't there, if your judgement is that this lad is good enough then stop hissing about and make a move and quickly!

For every Club this summer, it's all about bargain buys and bargain buys won't be sitting on the shelf for very long!

Sing town, try asking that fella where Malaysia is?

Anyone seen Moneyball? Since there's our chances of getting good prospects by conventional way of scouting, maybe similar sabermatics-like approach could work like what the Oakland Athletics did in the early 2000s...

Hey abang Arablue, are you from Msia? Even if you are, can't beat the little red dote yah, SIN is just too small to be noticed on the map. There are people who thought it is a city in China. :-)

Before anything happens, hope we keep Smith as he is arguably the only player who boasts playing in the World Cup Finals in current town squad, and upcoming Olympics in London too. His contract renewal is taking a tad too long to be concluded. Other clubs may poach him if Clegg don't act fast. Smith is one young & hungry player that we should groom

Sindre: Sincere apologies fella ... my comments were meant to come across as tongue firmly implanted in cheek (as per my comments about being old - i.e. self-deprecation) but obviously I made a total hash of that. So again, please accept my apologies.

As to the others .... gee .... how to win friends and influence people!

So now I am everything from a racist, downwards.

Oh and Taylor15 ... many apologies for doing your head in mate .... but how the hell I am always doing that defeats me, as the two posts in question were my first on here!!!! lol

Anyway, enough of all this falling out ... I will try my best to put away my misguided humour in future and just make constructive comments, the like that everyone else appears to on here!

Singtown, Yup in KL...been a blue for a while though not as long as some regulars on this site... love at first sight really, after witnessing the great bobby's boys in 1980...happy memories indeed- those were the days...

Not sure about smith; how good he will be would also depend on who he plays with next season, but worth keeping nonetheless...as posted by many before, need a rightback and commanding centreback...and of course, a damn good goalie...

what we need is hyam in the team! a good defensive midfeilder to take the preasure off the back four and jimmy to get his act together and pick passes for chopra to put away! the spine of the team is solid (imo) but (and what we havnt had for a very long time) is a plan b or c. oh and a golie wouldnt hurt (a stable one!) if anyone here speaks to pj tell him im avaleable but i want a pay rise...

on a side note, (and sorry sindre) anyone coming to holland for pre-season? we can all get together and have a little moan in den bosch and helmond and a little drinkey poos in amsterdam :)
