New Signings, Martin, Cresswell and Delaney in Squad for Cambridge
New Signings, Martin, Cresswell and Delaney in Squad for Cambridge
Wednesday, 25th Jul 2012 14:38

New signings Scott Loach and Massimo Luongo are included in tonight’s squad for the friendly at Cambridge United (KO 7.45pm), along with Lee Martin who has missed out so far due to a thigh injury. Aaron Cresswell and Damien Delaney are both in the squad despite being linked with moves to Aston Villa and Nottingham Forest respectively.

Martin told the club website that he has sat out the games up to now as a precaution: "I had a minor problem with my thigh, which forced me to miss the two games out in Holland.

"There was no point in risking it and making things worse. It just needed time to settle down."

Midfielder Ryan Stevenson is over his hamstring injury and is included in the party travelling to the Abbey Stadium.

Trialist winger Plaisir Bahamboula is not included and may well have left the club, while goalkeeper Marian Kello, who was with the Blues in Holland, is understood to have moved on after his scheduled week with Town.

Town: Ainsley, Chambers, Chopra, Cresswell, Delaney, Drury, Edwards, Emmanuel-Thomas, Hyam, Lawrence, Lee-Barrett, Loach, Luongo, Martin, Scotland, Stevenson, Thorsteinsson, Whight.

@Jimmys Law. Yes can see your point. But i would like to see the fringe players getting a chance. We need to see if they can do it. J.E.T Well We aint really seen him as a striker? Could be interesting though!

Was looking forward to seeing Chops play tonight. Oh well. I reckon 4-2-3-1: Loach; Edwards, Chambers, Delaney, Cresswell; Drury, Stevenson; Lawrence, Martin, JET; Scotland

Luongo to make his debut in the second half

When Chopra is missing (good decision if has a minor knock), it just goes to show how weak our attacking options are. If we are serious about a promotion challenge, would like to see us sign TWO new strikers. However, at this stage would take just one (as long as it's not Heskey).

According to EADT's, ITFC have rubbished the Delaney / Forest link. They have not mentioned Cresswell.

Why don't people do there research before posting Chops is injured n R.Murray is out injured Notts Forest have no interest in Delaney n A.Villa haven't bid for Cresswell may have been a enquiry that's it Ipswich want 6m Villa will never pay that end of both stories at the moment!

Team for tonight, and probably starting team unless new buys come in:
LOACH
EDWARDS CHAMBERS DELANEY (new player) CRESSWELL

HYAM (new player) LUONGO Defo new player

JET MARTIN

CHOPRA

Some new players needed in the CB / RB / and CM roles and then a reasonable team starting to take shape, need some vital players though,....Opinions ???

Where is Jimmy Bullard. PJ says he is fit but shouldn't he be playing in all of the friendlies. He owes us big-time after last season.
