Town Close In On N'Daw
Thursday, 23rd Aug 2012 08:54

St Etienne midfielder Guirane N’Daw is close to completing a move to Town, according to reports in France this morning. Yesterday, the French media reported that the Blues, Brighton and Charlton had been offered the 28-year-old former Birmingham man, who is surplus to requirements at his current club.

Town and their 1981 UEFA Cup opponents are said to have been in negotiations for a number of days with N’Daw and his representative having travelled to the UK for talks yesterday afternoon.

This morning’s reports claim that N’Daw will join Town on a free transfer but with St Etienne receiving a percentage of any future sale. The Senegalese international is set to undergo a medical and it’s said that the deal could be completed as soon as today.

Meanwhile, the Blues continue to be linked with a loan move for Reading striker Simon Church, along with Huddersfield, while Aston Villa are similarly again mentioned in connection with Town’s Aaron Cresswell with their current left-back Stephen Warnock said to be close to rejoining Blackburn on loan.

Oh no!! Here we go again, I don't think I can bear another failed, drawn out transfer saga.

why thats a bit of a silly comment bobby ramsey, i do hope it doesnt go the same way as the davies/edu deals have gone, ie lots of reporting then never happens.

I think N'Daw would be a good addition. Strengthen up the midfield. COYB

I want to see a big striker in asap .we have pace and energy thought the side that can play better with someone up top who can keep hold /play others in. We lack in that department.

Keeping optimistic, I hope that this is seriously happening - not just another "close to signing" report that culminates in the player choosing to go elsewhere last minute!

Church would be a decent signing as well - but maybe as a back-up as opposed to a starting-every-game striker.

We can't give Cressy away - we'll never find someone as good as him quickly enough without a sudden burst of extremely good negotiation with a Premier League club!

N'Daw is quality - if we can pull this out of the bag, it'll be a real coup.

Midfield muscle to protect the back 4 (I know Hyam and Luongo are doing a good job so far, but the option of a bit more presence and experience in that area will improve the squad), plus he can cover for Chambers at centre-back.

As the article says he'll be available on a free transfer, it'd be like getting 2 players for the price of none :^D

Not convinced by this guy - we get praised for playing football for once and sign a clogger! But if he can double as a Centre Back too it may be a good signing. Poor Hyam though. As to Church he is back up at best and I can't see what he offers over Chops and Scotland. I'd prefer to get a decent wide player (Judge, McGlashen) to give Carson and JET a kick up the ar&e and get Stead in as a plan B to be honest!

Please don't sell Cresswell! We don't need to! And please get Martin tied down!

Haven't seen N'Daw play but he ain't waltzing into the first XI that's for sure!

Mr Jingles

Have you heard of St Etienne? Were you there in 1981? Do you know anything of football? Are you from this planet?

Would you turn down a player surplus to requirements at Barcelona? You do realise that some clubs are better than us right? That their players that get released might be our best players? You do understand yes?

WorcesterBlue - i'd feel actually getting Plan B would be a better step than bringing Stead back :)

I'm still waiting to see who these two other players from PL teams we have had offers accepted for. One was permanent, one a season loan so could be the answer to our striker within those two?

My housemate is a St. Etienne fan and he reckons that N'Daw is a bit of a clumsy donkey

Brum fans reckon that without N'Daw they have become very vulnerable when defending set pieces and crosses. This guy got his head on everything when he played last season, and had the most energy of all their midfielders. They did, however, point out his wild shooting and wayward passing, which could disrupt our flowing football.

I really hope that Jewell doesn't break up the Hyam-Luongo axis at the moment. Especially when N'Daw has all the traits to be a top centre back, and has experience there, so why not play him alongside an organiser like Chambers. Lets face it, most Championship teams play long balls or try and go wide to cross, which he would swallow up. It would be a bit harsh on Tommy but we need to cancel out these stupid goals that we concede from crosses. In fact I think nearly every goal we have conceded in the last 6 or 7 games (including pre-season) has come from a cross!!!

N'Daw could be a good player to spring from the bench to see a game out or provide that extra steel if requred against the physically bigger teams. Plus he has alot of experience.

Let's give the guy a chance before you all slate him, he hasn't even kicked a ball for us yet!

N'Daw would be good as he can cover at centre half. Like brian a mul says he would help us see out games with his physical presence. Would'nt mind church either.

Villa can jog on !!!! Just when we are starting to build a decent young side we get unwanted intrusions from no-hopers !!!! If they come up with at least 15 million + bent + warnock we will still need to say JOG ON !!!!

So this is the first panic signing of the summer then? another manu thetis or a george santos? why was it that he left the brum? i dont know anything of this player, but i suppose this is what to expect from a multitude of knock-backs in the transfer market..............oh sigh.

mrmorisato - He is more of an up-market Liam Trotter. We struggle with set pieces and his presence would help.
