Murphy Loan Deal Could Be Done By Wednesday
Tuesday, 28th Aug 2012 10:56

TWTD understands that Daryl Murphy’s season-long loan move to the Blues from Celtic could be completed as soon as tomorrow. Talks regarding the 29-year-old’s return to Portman Road have been ongoing for the last couple of days with the Irish international back from his hamstring injury sooner than had been expected.

Murphy was back in training with the SPL champions yesterday having suffered the injury only a fortnight ago.

Discussions regarding his loan to the Blues — his third temporary move to the club in addition to a number of spells on trial while with hometown club Waterford United — will continue today, but with all parties keen for the deal to go through, the situation could be resolved by Wednesday.

Capped nine times by Ireland without scoring, Murphy made 32 starts and two sub appearances for Town last season, almost all at left midfield, netting four goals.

At the end of the campaign Paul Jewell said he was keen to sign the former Sunderland man on a permanent basis but wasn’t confident a deal could be done.

Speaking in July, he said: “I’ve spoken with Daryl’s agent a few times and if they want a fee, with his wages, we just can’t afford it. It’s no secret that Daryl’s on a good contract at Celtic.

“I thought he did well for us at the back end of the season. We would be interested in Daryl if the deal was right, but I get the feeling that it’s going to be an expensive deal for us to do.”

Never lets us down and won't score goals which is a big problem.
Loach will have to practice the big hoof onto Murphy's head....tactics !!!

Murph has never been a regular striker for us so we cant judge his strike rate. Played well last season & he wants to play for the club. Lets give him a chance. He did well last season.

I'm happy with Murphy coming back and I hope it does happen, he's a hard worker and I believe very undervalued and underrated.
I wish it was a permanent deal but I guess the financial situation dictates otherwise, hopefully we'll get him signed up at the end of the season.

PJ has hours of video analysis at his disposal, medical records, costs, fitness stats. We have a world class scouting team but we end up going after ex PJ players or players we know

Murphy is a useful addition and a good squad player but we still need depth and im not sure we will have that by Friday deadline but the rumour about Boyd and Taylor coming if true could be just what we re lookin for coyb

LOAN LOAN EFFINK LOAN AARRRGHHHHH

Nothing like getting a player back on loan who helped us all last year to a lofty bottom half finish.

What a waste of a wage!!!

Once again....Jewell will take us nowhere!!!!!!!!!
