Jewell Confirms Owner's Backing
Monday, 22nd Oct 2012 11:07

Town boss Paul Jewell has confirmed that owner Marcus Evans has reiterated that he is still fully behind him, as reported by TWTD yesterday. The pair spoke on Sunday afternoon, Jewell having said he was to consider his future in the wake of Saturday’s 2-1 defeat at Hull City.

Jewell told the club site: “I had another restless night on Saturday and then spoke to Marcus Evans on Sunday afternoon about the situation.

“We had a good chat and yet again, he gave me his 100 per cent backing. I couldn’t really ask for more support from the owner to be honest.”

The Town boss says he has also had received support from players, ex-players and managers elsewhere: “I’ve had text messages of support from the players as well, from other managers and from players that have played for this club — even some I have let go!

“That has meant a lot to me. I’ve spoken to the coaching staff and we’re now preparing for what is obviously a very important game on Tuesday against Derby.”

He admits that form has to pick up very soon, with speculation growing that Alan Curbishley is being lined-up as his potential successor: “I said a few things after Saturday’s game — perhaps in the heat of the moment but it’s clear that results on the pitch have not been good enough.

“I can only continue to do my best for this football club to turn things around. That has to happen very quickly though.”

What's with all the -'s on any comment which says he should go. Hand on heart who is happy with what's going on unless you support another team.
When Jewel came here he said "I didn't like playing 4-5-1 but with the current players I have no option" yet here we are nearly 2 years in and still playing 4-5-1 home and away even playing people out of position to play it i.e Murphy out wide, Edwards right back, Jet ?Mohsni ? dont even think he knew where he was playing Saturday and the best one of all Higgingbottom centre forward. Every team in the land worked out his formation and team play after 2 games this season, he keeps swapping players around from left side to right side, I've lost count this season alone where we have Martin, JET and Murphy all on the same side of the pitch.
Still we dont have the players nearing the end of contracts signed or the young hungry players on long term deals, OK you may argue that's Clegg but why say it if you can't deliver.
Out of all his signings you can only be really happy with one of them and that Cresswell.

Again I have just wasted 10 minutes typing this as nobody why makes a difference will do anything, our voice should be heard. If you can Phil please pass on every comment to the powers of B and get this muppet out.

PJ - post your mobile number on the board if you want text messages telling you what you really need to hear rather than texts from your buddies telling you "everything is going to be all right" Painful stuff.....

Yet again another defeat 3 points thrown away then a point thrown away in the dieing moments of the match... Yet another plea for pity from Jewell to make us feel sorry for him then he gets the backing from the board who must have their heads up their own backsides. This team is a joke...can't defend, can't score enough goals, in 3 months we will have yhe youngsters thrown in at the deep end to save the club as most of the 1st team will go back to their clubs or in Nigel reo c will be at a better team after getting his match fitness. Yet another week another defeat and we all say 2 wins from next 3 games WE HAVE BEEN SAYING THIS FOR LAST 2 months
There is no desire to succeed from the board they have no interest in this club
I didn't lik Steve kean but felt sorry for him he had his team 2nd in league and had only just lost their 1st game but he got sacked because he didn't meet their targets which was get them promoted...
Our board don't have any targets it was just them saying the right things to make us fans happy.
Ipswich town are going to be the next Coventry city if the board and management dont go soon.

PJ is like Gollum in Lord of the Rings. Manipulative and contradictory though he is, Frodo and Sam need the vile creature to guide them to Mount Doom. Oh actually this analogy doesn't work.

A lot of speculation on here and other places about new manager;but Mr Jewell, for the second time recntly, has said he has full backing of the owner.
My worry is that the team I have supported for 50 years will win the next two games and we will be stuck with him.Magic was sacked as there was no prospect of him getting us promoted, well no worry about that happening in near future especially with this prat in charge.
Many names mentioned on here,if by some miracle he does depart in my life time;but nobody's mention Steve(I speak like a dutchman when managing in Holland,or the wally with the brolly if i'm England Manager)McLaren.
Suggest as many season ticket holders go along to supporters AGM on Wednesday @ PR as possible. This is normally a sedate, even sycophantic gathering, who seem to be in awe of the top table, and feel that anybody with a modicum of criticism is not a true supporter.

Thought we would beat Charlton but we didnt, and Huddersfied for that matter. I know one thing that's a must if we do not get 6pts from these two homes surely he goes

Jim Magilton was given full backing and then was sacked after BEATING NORWICH in the local derby. He will be in charge for the game V Derby - and so obviously has full backing from the Owner up until then (!) but then who knows how long Marcus has promised him.

And the gulf between the fans and management gets wider by the day.
It seems at the moment the fans are the only ones who actually care?
It's hard to see any light at the end of the tunnel at the moment it's just so depressing and I can't in my 25 years of supporting the blues remember anything like it.
Time for Marcus Evans to make some decisions, show some leadership and give us back the belief in our club.
I really couldn't give a monkeys what Paul Jewell or Clegg have to say anymore.

The only way is for Town to lose and get rid of this IDIOT how I hate saying it but its the only way forward carry on with Jewell and we will be relegated lets hope no one turns up tomorrow then Evan might take notice.
