Jewell to Speak to Evans In Morning
Wednesday, 24th Oct 2012 00:43

Town boss Paul Jewell says he will speak to club owner Marcus Evans in the morning, as he does after every game. The Liverpudlian, who missed his post-match press conference, confirmed that he is still the Blues’ manager despite earlier reports claiming that he had resigned.

Jewell told the club site: “I’m Ipswich Town manager at the moment and I will be in the morning.

"I’ll be at the training ground tomorrow and will speak to Marcus then, as I do after every game.”

Regarding the 2-1 defeat to his former club Derby County, he said: “We started brightly enough and were the better team in the first-half but we conceded another bad goal just before half-time.

“One mistake led to another and you could see the confidence drain out of the players. We didn’t really threaten in the second half and then to concede right at the end again for the second game in succession was a real kick in the teeth.

“That’s 15 points we have let go now this season from winning positions, but I can’t keep saying the same things.

“It’s really difficult to pick yourself up and go again but that’s what you have to do as a professional. There’s another game Saturday and everyone has to focus on that and getting the club out of the run we are on.”

Speaking at the post-match press conference, Jewell's assistant Chris Hutchings - who will be at Wednesday evening's Supporters Club AGM along with chief executive Simon Clegg and skipper Carlos Edwards - revealed owner Evans is currently in Barbados.

All about sorting out his deal - like the thought of Klug and Osman as a temp fix and I would even suggest getting in Terry Butcher from Inverness - Think we need a Senior Footballing Brain at the club as well

This is my first post, I felt like I needed to say something about this horrible mess. It really saddens me to see what is going on at our club.I'm 20 and my relationship with town started in the famous play off year. I have such fond memories of watching us in the first premier league season, great football, great players and just a great atmosphere around the club. The players seemed proud to put on the shirt and I was proud to support Ipswich Town (and not living in Ipswich with everyone supporting Arsenal, Spurs and Man Utd was pretty cool). How things have changed... My Dad then got us season tickets when Joe Royal took over, and in those first two seasons what exciting football we watched! Since Joe Royals leadership things slowly went down hill... and the football got worse and worse. This is a new low. EMBARRASSING. Lack of youth players being given the chance(REMEMBER WHEN WE WON THE FA YOUTH CUP IN 2005???), sky high ticket prices, low attendances, too many loan players and just plain awful football. As much as it pains me to say it, maybe we need to go down in order to move forward... and maybe Brian Klug should take over.

I have been turned on so many times on this forum for stating what is true but it is appalling to see what I have said come true. Fool Jewell was never the man for the job he never had the dressiong room which is why he kept on bringing in oldies who were grateful to him. The younger players had no respect for him and he had no time for them and the biggotted fool Clegg should get his marching orders too offering local boys a pittance and buying in crap like the the rb with hip problems and paying him over 1400 a week offering Hyam only 600 a week its a disgrace. A shambles and no one who works there even cares and it has been coming on for a long time

Our club is in a dire mess, and last nights fiasco just made it
so much worse. As a club we are a laughing stock. ME & SC sort this out now. Stop ripping off the fans or next year you will not only have the most expensive season tickets in league 1, but the most expensive in English football and a crowd of under 10k every match.

The two of you are leading this club down a deep dark hole, which I am scared we are not going to come out off.

Just went out came back in checked on here to see if Jewell had left yet, deep down new absolutely nothing would of changed. Seriously Jewell would call it a day, we are bottom of the league, players seem to be against him, we cant defend, we barely, attendances are low. Jewell you may be hurting but you are being bloody selfish now as far as I'm concerned, resign and admit you have simply not cut it, you are making it into a Jewell Vs Ipswich Town scenario now, the club is bigger than one person so for christ sake just let this once proud club to move on.

I was at the game last night and for the first time in my life I felt ashamed to be a Town supporter ! The treatment of the players and management by the so-called supporters round me was disgusting ! They came in and were slagging off the players and manager even before the game had started ! At no time during the game did they give any voice to supporting the team and to me that sort of atmosphere transmits itself to the players ! This attitude has been with them since the season started and I would hate to be near them with a team they didn't support ! With that type of supporter around they do not deserve to have any sort of success as they would say it is being achieved through cheating !! A change of manager now will guarantee relegation at the season end !!!!

It's all very well coming on here and venting your frustrations but at any other club there would be mass demos outside the ground in this predicament. I went round to the players entrance straight after the game to give some what for and the only people that were there were around half a dozen geeks with boble hats collecting DERBY AUTOGRAPHS - WTF???!!!. Pathetic.

worrying times . I worry that evans wont release PJ. we all know that declarations of my full support are usually the precursor to the P45 but evans seems not to be that type. with a large empire to run ITFC is just one part that isnt functioning too well at the moment. lets say PJ is on only £1 mill /year, thats still a £750000 payoff and ME is not going to sign that off just because the fans are demanding it. I worry that a new manager if we can find one, is not going to be able to do anything with the current set-up at PR. I reckon ME's plan could be to leave PJ to run down his contract and if we get relegated probably sell us and if we don't, he will get a new man in. change leagues, change manager, change hopes.

Meekreech - 100% with you on this! I was disgusted with some of the comments from some of the fans.

After the Derby winning goal I still believed we could go on and get a point. I actually lost my voice from willing them on so loudly but it seemed like some fans were happy we'd conceded again at the end, just so they could call for Jewell's head.

Supporters - bulls**t.

do the right thing Paul. Walk away, don't be a greedy b**tard clinging on hoping Evans pays you off.

Since 1990. Your a model supporter. Well done - we are not worthy. Perhaps you'll get your way and be sitting in the Cobbold by yourself next season.

As many others have said, PJ has absolutely no choice but to leave immediately. We're in serious trouble and I have lost faith that he can turn it round.

Mick Mills is right when he says Evans should have cancelled his holiday and been at the game. It's quite bizarre. I just hope he realises the seriousness of the situation before we're even further into the mire.

We're looking like Norwich did before they were relegated. We were laughing then but we sure as hell aren't now.

PJ, go. Evans, sort it out.

Meekreech you are some sort of IDIOT or are you JEWELL in disguise how the hell can you say supporters did not get behind the team they most certainly did until the final whistle when enough is enough get rid of this crap some players as well and since1990 you are a moron for agreeing with we can do without IDIOTS like you

Dozzells_Bobblehat added 12:57 - Oct 24
meekreech - cant agree with you about not changing the manager but you are spot on about a certain element of our supporters. Unfortunately the number is growing too, as seen on this website and you there is a totally negative feel around PR at the minute.
I know the team need to give the supporters something (anything really at the minute) to cheer about but we could do a lot more by getting behind them once the match kicks off, and i agree that there are some people in the crowd and on here that actually want us to lose at the minute, and thats very sad.

bluey123 - little note for you, people are not idiots or moron's for not agreeing with you, and the crowd got behind the team at times last night, but nowhere near enough.
