Mick McCarthy knows how to get a team out of this league and can spot talent in the lower leagues.

Paul Mariner. The time is right. Fans favourite good coach, got the best reception for a visiting manager along with Sir Bobby. Had little chance at Plymouth. All managers have an element of risk but I believe Mariner is the man for the job.

we should only bring in burley if he comes in with holland however i think we should bring in mick mccarthy because he is proven at this level and he will get us out of this mess and sort out the players who actually want to play for ipswich and bring in good players but i dont think we should bring in curbs he been out of management for ages and hes lost it but we need to get sorted asap or we will be looking at league 1 football were we dont belong!

I will take the job. If i cant get 9 points from next 5 games i will resign. Plus i'm willing to work for free to earn a long term deal. All i need is a place to stay.

Definitely not a football dinosaur please!

Let's have someone who brings a big broom to clear out the dead leaves and provide a breath of fresh air around the place.

Di Canio - I wouldn't care if he leans to the right (he'd be managing a football team not a concentration camp) as long as he gets us results... which he would!

Karl Robinson - Young, dynamic and hungry... just what we need.

Harry - Not young but would certainly get us playing, wouldn't kowtow to Clegg the Clown and has some great contacts for players.

Poyet & Taricco - Would be good for Town but settled at Brighton... or are they?

Please let's not appoint a "safe pair of hands"... now may be just the right time to go for broke and clear out the old ways in favour of a new dynamism and an attractive, effective style of attacking play mixed with an organised defence and a solid midfield.

The signing of good, lower league players who have a will to do well on a bigger stage whilst keeping spending within the budget would be a good starting point for any new manager.

Anybody who seriously wants Curbishley must ask themselves why hasn't he worked for 6 years as a manager?

Youth is the key; look at the EPL
Chelsea,Spurs, City, Liverpool, Swansea, Villa, Reading, the scum- all have relatively young managers.

Why are we being linked to the same old faces?

I do not know! The only names I have seen mentioned in these seven pages by my fellow supporters are Poyet/Tarrico and with all the others, especially with ALL of those on that betting list, my blood runs cold. Since Mr. Evans took overs he has made one ghastly mistake after another and the people he should be seeking advice from do not include our 'Arry. He needs to seek advice from football cognizant people who have blue hearts and the welfare of our club in that same place. He must get rid of Clegg or appoint somebody like Mick Mills as Director of Football if he feels he needs to keep him as a 'yes' man. I have no idea where we are going or what is going to happen but I fear for the future of our once great club. COYB

I will literally take anyone except Steve Cotterill. The man's a snivelling little turd and I don't think it's going too far to say I'd rather have a Keane/Jewell double act on charge ahead of Cotterill

My preference is di Canio, Karl Robinson, Owen Coyle or Mick McCarthy, in that order

I have people that i prefer but i'll back anyone but Smegson! A bit nervous over the "young & hungry" brigade on here, the problem with those type of managers is that first sniff of a bigger club & they'll be off i.e Freedman, colye, howe, ince, lambert & rodgers. Surley we need stability.

Some interesting names mentioned, perhaps Curbishley with Holland as assistant with a view to grooming him to be his successor.

Solskjaer would be interesting and arrive with no baggage, well thought of in the game, not sure that we would be an attractive enough proposition for him though

Paolo Sousa could be a good choice, the architect of the Swansea revolution

Coyle another good shout for me, as he likes to build a team and did very well with Burnley, not sure about his loyalty though

Safe pair of hands in Billy Davies

Dark horses are Steve Lomas and Paul Mariner

Would like to see a place made for Mick Mills though, take some of the duties away from Clegg, maybe downgrade him to tea boy.

Not sure that I trust Evans & Clegg to make the right appointment as they have already cocked it up twice!!!

So it's fair to say that the TWTD members are 100% in agreement as to who they would like to take over the reigns of Ipswich ;)

Blimey... I've just read all 7 pages... we'll back whoever comes in... right?

McCarthy would provide the motivation, organisation and nous that the (talented) players so obviously lack.

Redknapp would provide that motivation, but he concerns me with his chequebook approach. We need some stability, players who actually last beyond three seasons (three months would be a nice start), and the last time he dealt with a club with limited resources was what, Bournemouth?

I like the idea of Poyet/Tarricco, or Mowbray, but can't see the former ditching Brighton's brave new world, or Mowbray forsaking his spiritual home.

Worried about Curbishley for his lack of recent experience, not to mention a fairly downbeat demeanour. Burley is tempting, in a nostalgic sort of way, but could he do it again? I'm unsure on returns. Megson / Kean / Keane / Robins / Hoddle ideas just laughable.

I'd like at least some connection to the Town's traditions in there, which leans me toward Mills and Butcher, but again both have minuses against their names too. Holland has limited experience, and I think our current situation isn't one for experiments and learning curves...

Which leads me to say... no idea really, and I'm pleased I don't have to make the decision. My heart leans toward Mills, my head toward McCarthy, but I'm intrigued by the wild-card of Frank Yallop. Long-serving, good player, a defender, successful manager; pair him up with someone with good knowledge of the English lower leagues, appoint a successor to Charlie Woods as chief scout, ferret about for a defensive coach in the mould of Don Howe and sorted.

So: Yallop, Mills, McCarthy... or someone else I hadn't thought of, who might be an unexpected stroke of genius or another short lived experiment in averageness - like most managerial appointments.

Some interesting names being thrown around. I think we need someone young, hungry and with a point to prove. Not so many managers get tapped up by bigger clubs these days from lower league sides. It's quite a rare occurrence. I don't think we should have a manager who already done it all before. Would their heart really be as in it compared to a manager that's never won anything in the top 2 divisions and his hungry for success?

My 3 yes's are Solskjaer, Di Canio & Keith Hill

3 big no's are Redknapp, Curbs & Hoddle

If we are to avoid relegation this year the best bet imo would be mick mccarthay,no disrespect to carlos but do you think HE would keep him at rb?A good gauge is to look what happened when wolves were struggling and he got the sack,i think they lost every game after that did'nt they?proving he was getting the best out of the players he had, poss terry butcher as i posted the other day would also kick some ass and would be popular with the fans.THE BIGGEST PROBLEM THOUGH AT IPSWICH IS THAT POMPUS PRAT CLEGG
