Campbell Won't Extend Town Loan
Thursday, 22nd Nov 2012 17:26

DJ Campbell has confirmed he will not extend his three-month Ipswich loan deal when it ends in January.

But the 31-year-old QPR striker, who has netted four times in eight Town appearances, is open to the idea of staying at Portman Road on a permanent basis.

“It will be interesting to see what happens in January but I will only do what suits me and my family, whether it’s signing full-time for Ipswich, going back to QPR or moving somewhere else on a permanent deal.”

Campbell has enjoyed his time at Town: “My decision to come here was spot-on. I’ve loved it and I couldn’t speak any more highly of this club.

“I’ll look at things when January comes round. I’ll consider my options and decide what’s best for me and my family. I don’t want to extend my loan and I won’t go on loan to any other club.

“The fans have been good to me, there’s a good bunch of players here and both the gaffer and Terry Connor have been great since they’ve come here.

“It’s a great club and staying permanently is definitely something I would look at but I haven’t made up my mind about what I want to do beyond January.”

Meanwhile, the final day on which Football League clubs are able to sign players on loan passed without any moves in or out of Portman Road.

Elsewhere, ex-Blue Damien Delaney has signed a new contract with Crystal Palace until the summer of 2014. The Irishman joined the Eagles shortly after leaving the Blues in August, agreeing an initial deal until January.

Academy schoolboy Cemal Ramadan and the Republic of Ireland U16s drew 1-1 in the second of two friendlies against Estonia in Dublin earlier today. Ramadan netted both goals in a 2-0 victory in the first on Tuesday.

If he's not in contention for the first team at QPR. Maybe we can offer them a nominal fee in Jan and sign him up... fingers crossed we'll be out of the bottom 3 by then COYB!!

Well at least he's being honest..the problem is so many players who do well on loan never seem to be as good when they sign a permanent deal.

Interesting - surely if we want to sign him, we should do the deal now - so he becomes permanent from 1 January? Otherwise, may as well play Chopra of Scotland.

We could and should be looking for better, there are very few players in this squad worthy of a town shirt , ultimately we need players capable of winning 6-0 , not those who throw in their hands after a couple of goals

Agree with Palace sentiments. I wish I knew why we are their feeder club.

We cant do the deal now!!.. Only in principle, and as we all have seen and heard how fickle the football world has become this week, chelsea manager getting sacked after winniing two highly sought after trophies, how selfish and disloyal the game has become, we as fans really have no say other than who we choose to support and for how long!!..

"but I will only do what suits me and my family, "

smacks of money/wages etc

We would have to buy out his remaining contract at QPR and I'm sure he is suggesting that it will have to be something similar with us for the next contract

can't see thathappening, to honest

Holloway & Palace then for DJ and who can blame him. Drop him and play Chopra. Time for payback from Chops.

If QPR still in trouble in January can't see them letting him go, but if for some reason they're not interested at least MM and the rest have 2 months to convince him to stay (of course if we're up the league and looking a not bad side by then then more likely ).
Bluefeast your joke on previous page is brilliant- thanks!

He has scored two proper goals and two dodgy goals and its a bit early to be calling the shots but saying that he is the best we have at the moment and i think Mick should sign him.
For the long term their are some good young strikers out there just as good as Campbell if not better and i think Mick will sign a couple of decent ones when the tranfer market open and also a good keeper and some attacking midfielders.
The best thing Campbell can do is score a lot of goals and earn a contract in the mean time starting this weekend.
I am sure he will and i think he will end up a town player.
May the force be with you this week Mick .

Two of our loan players are playing regular for us at the moment and they have been quoted that the would love to play for us permanent.
But i cant get my head round the Kelly Youga situation.
Mick has given him a contract till january and he was quoted saying that he might not play for us at all but if he plays at least one game he will be delighted.
Surely we cant afford to pay this player wages every week just to train and not play for us at all or maybe have one game can we.

DONE A GOOD JOB FOR US AGREE BUT IF HE THINKS HE CAN DO BETTER AT A PREMIER CLUB SO BE IT . HOPE MM CAN HAVE US IN SOME SHAPE BY THEN AND HE WILL STAY.THE MAIN THING IS WE ARE OK FOR NEXT SEASON AND WE CAN BUILD A TEAM THAT WANT TO DO A JOB FOR US.

For me, dj is the one of the only players who has the ability to score week in week out
, with the exception of Taylor. We need to somehow keep hold of him! COYB

A cautionary tale, he has only ever scored more than 10 goals in a season once since 2006 and on that occasion he only scored 13! Fact!

I think that we should sign him up permanently.
Try and keep Cleggy out of negotiations.
The basic question are:
1) How much is it worth to keep us in the Championship?
2) How much would it cost to get out of division 1?
