Hyam a Doubt, Reo-Coker Out
Thursday, 29th Nov 2012 09:29

Midfielder Luke Hyam is a doubt ahead of Saturday’s trip to Bolton Wanderers with the calf injury he sustained in the 3-1 victory of Nottingham Forest on Tuesday. Blues boss Mick McCarthy says ex-Trotter Nigel Reo-Coker will definitely miss out with his hamstring problem.

McCarthy said: “I still don’t know how many games Nigel will miss, I think he’s hoping to train next week.

"But the bigger worry is that Luke Hyam got a kick on his calf and he won’t train today, but hopefully he’ll be OK.

“I think he’ll be all right, but it’s enough that he’s not going to train today and we’ll have to wait and see tomorrow. Everybody else is fine, no problems.”

If Hyam fails to make it, Andy Drury would appear to be the 21-year-old's likely replacement in the centre of midfield alongside Guirane N'Daw.

Town’s only long-term injury is Paul Taylor, who is expected to miss the season having recently undergone foot surgery.

If you look back at hyam under keane, after being sent off away at reading he didn't get a look in.

Under jewell he and drury saved PJ against west ham but then didn't give him a long enough run.

You can see under mm he is looking for some stability. Made the right change on Tuesday in dropping Higginbotham. So long as Luke is fit and gives 100% he will be on teamsheet.

Team on Tuesday had better balance and a bench which could offer something.

Small but effective changes by mm.

Have to say he is injury prone and will be missed IF he isn't fit to play - he must start playing regularly if he is to become a better player.
