Chambers Suffering From Déjà Vu Tuesday, 18th Dec 2012 11:39 Luke Chambers has a sense of déjà vu as his first season at Portman Road almost mirrors his last at previous club Nottingham Forest. This time last year Forest were third bottom of the Championship with 21 points, just two fewer than Town have banked in the current campaign. Chambers & Co eventually finished three places and 10 points clear of the drop zone, a realistic proposition for an Ipswich side rejuvenated in recent weeks under new boss Mick McCarthy. Asked if he was concerned about another relegation scrape, the 27-year-old central defender said: “We’ve never really talked about it but when results aren’t going your way it is always in the back of your mind. “Ever since I signed for this club and saw what was here I’ve never been in any doubt that the squad is good enough. But at the end of the day you’re never too good to go down. “We’re really, really positive and delighted with how the last few weeks have gone but the gaffer has made no secret of the fact that he won’t get carried away. “The players in the dressing room are the same because the moment we take our foot off the pedal you look over your shoulder and there are people on your heels again. All we can do is keep going in the right direction and keep performing the way we have been doing.” Chambers also insisted the loan players at Portman Road are every bit as committed as the others and believes they are open to considering permanent moves. He added: “There are players who are enjoying playing for the football club, enjoying the surroundings and enjoying what we are doing at the minute. “No one knows what’s round the corner so if there’s an opportunity for the lads to discuss their own personal situations, regarding staying at the football club, I’m sure they will be up for that. “We’re all in it together and nobody’s coming in here to have an easy-oasy day. Everyone, including those who are on loan, wants to play football and they are going to do it to the best of their ability, which is what they have done all season.”
