Appleton Confirms Orr Will Return to Blackburn
Monday, 21st Jan 2013 16:05

New Blackburn Rovers boss Michael Appleton has confirmed that on-loan right-back Bradley Orr will return to Ewood Park when his current spell with the Blues is up after Saturday’s game away against his old club Bristol City. Prior to Appleton taking over as manager, the Lancastrian side had agreed to allow the 30-year-old to stay with Town until the end of the season.

However, the former Blackpool and Portsmouth boss is a fan of Orr and wants him in his squad: "100% he'll be back here after Saturday's game to be a Blackburn player.

"He is someone I have tried to sign a couple of times, he's got a vast experience of the Championship.

“He's very vocal, he's a good character, a good personality and he is someone who I'd rather have in my side than up against me.

"For me it is almost like a new signing, he's a lad that has got lots and lots of games in the Championship and someone that is going to be vital for us between now and the end of the season."

Orr’s return will be a blow to Blues boss Mick McCarthy who wanted the former Newcastle trainee for the rest of the season.

Previously, McCarthy had been linked with his Wolves right-back Ronald Zubar, but the Frenchman is back in favour at Molineux and has also been linked with a move to Premier League Wigan.

Summer signing Elliott Hewitt, 18, has impressed McCarthy since he took over from Paul Jewell, but the Blues boss would seem likely to want to bring in another more experienced right-back before the transfer window closes.

Gutted as I believe he has really helped strengthen the defence

h32 - agree again. Perkins was def' their MoMatch — intelligent, skillful, ran his socks off, and a real handful - we seriously need someone like that in that position...

Moscow - "...time to shuffle the right hand side of the team" ? Time to reshuffle MOST of the team if you ask me! Flippin rubbish. We were extremely lucky to scrape a point. Thank God Harewood is still as bad as he was when we had to put up with him.

Pity thought he was solid enough. I hope there's some positive news soon it all seems to be a bit bleek at the moment.

Some posts on here are embarrassing, if Blackburn want him back, so be it, and whoever the manager is... Up to us to deal with it. Get a grip of yourselves some of you Please

Its a shame that he is going back because he is a decent player but like Campbell he is not our player and if he has got to go back to his team so be it so lets thank him for what he has done and wish him well and move on because this is the gamble with loaning players
I am sure Mick is looking for a replacement and lets hope its a perminent player this time
I see the norwich dick dicks have got one point out of a possible eighteen that sounds like relegation form to me as they are just seven points off the bottom three now and maybe we will be watching local derby games again next season
who knows.

To be fair to Appleton when the sh#* hit the fan at Portsmouth he did a sterling job.

And if we are honest we'd all be tempted to move jobs if we were likely to double our wages elsewhere.

As for loyalty - he was loyal at Portsmouth and given what happened to Adkins at Soton football managers probably have to be a bit more pragmatic about the concept of loyalty than supporters.

Disappointed to loss Orr but excited to see how Hewitt does,

if Shaw can do it at 17 years of age in the premier league for southampton then Hewitt can definitely do it for us in the championship.

According to the BBC website (see Sportsday), Blackburn have been "linked" with right-back Scott Wiseman of Barnsley. Perhaps Bradley Orr will be surplus to requirements after all; or we could wind Blackburn up and buy Wiseman!

Had a dodgy first couple of games and then has got better, yet another loanee which we could of done with staying leaving and in all honesty probably not coming back. About time we got a few new decent players on contracts.

Shame if he goes back, but maybe we do need to learn to stand on our own 2 feet with contracted players. Why do we always continue to mollycoddle young players such as hewitt? Rooney was playing premiership week in week out for Everton at 17.
As for Appleton never really liked him but Orr is contracted to them so hes within his rights to recall if he so wishes. I really dont think BO shares MA s enthusiam for anything Blackburn so he may end up asking for transfer anyway. Would not be a bad thing to have him signed up for a small fee. is MA just trying to up any fee payable, he certainly tried hard to make us pay top dollar for any Pompey players we wanted.

Orr was surplus to requirements in a mid-table Blackburn team, they didn't even want to keep his as cover for their first choice and some posts on here talk of his leaving as a mini disaster. Its embarrassing when I read the comments between petermorris and h32 as seems more like a dating website. And all the talk of some fans NEVER understanding the game they follow is utter arrogance. check out Orr's player rating posted by fans who did attend the games and it will tell you that he was less than ordinary.

Bossman - the cap obviously fits you - maybe there is some arrogance, but IF I were an equally insulting person - I would say some ignorance !!! too - sad to say but true.

You are talking in the past tense ref Blackburn and Orr - completely pointless your statement, as a new Manager is in place, which as we know (or should do) can change things enormously in terms of opinion of players.

And I repeat (some) will never understand the game they follow - but who cares - I don't.

...... oh - and don't bother to read either petermorris, or my posts - that way you don't have a problem.
