Former Blue Jaime Peters has joined MLS side the Vancouver Whitecaps on trial back in his native Canada. The 25-year-old was released by Town last summer and since then has spent time on trial at Leyton Orient and Yeovil, where he was on loan earlier in his career.

His fellow Canadian and ex-Town team-mate Jason De Vos, these days a TV pundit and columnist, says the winger or full-back didn’t make the most of his ability during his seven years at Portman Road, tweeting: “Jaime Peters - loads of talent and athleticism.

"Struggled for consistency at Ipswich, fell in with the wrong crowd, a poor influence on him.

“Peters is young enough to turn his career around if - and that's a big if - his attitude is 100% professional.”

Really hope (and cautiously believe) that MM will stamp this sort of carp out of the club and get rid of any bad influences. I remember comments from Shane Supple and Richie Wellens over the last few years which worry me too.

Unless Keane was the 'Wrong Crowd' . Anyway, judging on what I saw, I thought he had great skill energy and committment and I was disappointed when he left. I wish him the best of luck

brian_a_mul added 16:12 - Jan 22 I think De Vos is hinting at a wider social circle outside of the club. Players have so much time off between training and match days. A young player away from family & friends with some $$ and lots of free time need to be guided carefully. Anyway best of luck to Jamie in Canada, lets hope he can still make a decent career for himself.

wickfordtractorboy added 22:24 - Jan 22 Good luck Jaime, showed plenty of promise and effort but never had a prolonged run in the side to show what he could really do. I think his biggest problem was that he didn't have one set position - he was used on the wings, attacking and defensive midfield, both full back positions, he seemed to be one of those players whose versatility worked against him - always on the bench or around the squad in an emergency to fill in but never given a position to make his own.
