Stearman Jumped at Chance to Work With Old Bosses Tuesday, 29th Jan 2013 15:53 New loan signing Richard Stearman says the chance to work with manager Mick McCarthy and his assistant Terry Connor again was a significant factor in his decision to join the Blues. The 25-year-old will be at Portman Road for the rest of the season. Speaking in an interview with Ipswich Player, Stearman said: “I have obviously worked under Mick and TC before and that was a big factor in me coming here. “Once I knew I was wanted down here at Portman Road, I jumped at it. I know a few of the lads already, so it was nice to see a few familiar friendly faces this morning. “I have not played as much football as I would have liked this season so the opportunity to come here and play games made it an easy decision. “It’s frustrating when you work all week and then have to sit on the bench or in the stands on a Saturday afternoon. “Footballers want to be out there playing and I’m no different. I’m looking forward to my time here and hopefully helping Ipswich get some points on the board.” Meanwhile, Anthony Wordsworth’s switch from Colchester seems more likely to be completed tomorrow rather than today, the clubs having agreed a fee believed to be in the region of £100,000. The 24-year-old midfielder, who we revealed would be joining Town a fortnight ago, is understood to have spent two days training with the Blues squad during the following week while the clubs negotiated a deal.
