Stearman Jumped at Chance to Work With Old Bosses
Tuesday, 29th Jan 2013 15:53

New loan signing Richard Stearman says the chance to work with manager Mick McCarthy and his assistant Terry Connor again was a significant factor in his decision to join the Blues. The 25-year-old will be at Portman Road for the rest of the season.

Speaking in an interview with Ipswich Player, Stearman said: “I have obviously worked under Mick and TC before and that was a big factor in me coming here.

“Once I knew I was wanted down here at Portman Road, I jumped at it. I know a few of the lads already, so it was nice to see a few familiar friendly faces this morning.

“I have not played as much football as I would have liked this season so the opportunity to come here and play games made it an easy decision.

“It’s frustrating when you work all week and then have to sit on the bench or in the stands on a Saturday afternoon.

“Footballers want to be out there playing and I’m no different. I’m looking forward to my time here and hopefully helping Ipswich get some points on the board.”

Meanwhile, Anthony Wordsworth’s switch from Colchester seems more likely to be completed tomorrow rather than today, the clubs having agreed a fee believed to be in the region of £100,000.

The 24-year-old midfielder, who we revealed would be joining Town a fortnight ago, is understood to have spent two days training with the Blues squad during the following week while the clubs negotiated a deal.

Lots of positives having a forum for discussion such as this on TWTD, a great place to get all the latest news and also give genuine opinion on the club we love. On the negative side an open membership really does give gobsh1tes from budgie-land etc a great opportunity to come on here slating our new signings and generally trying to pi$$ us all off.
Phil - should we have to swear an oath of allegience to the super blues on joining TWTD? And then when the scummers come on here they will have to sign up to something that includes the following for example: 1) Our love of Ipswich Town FC 2) Our sincere wish to be the best team in East Anglia 3) homage to Robson, Ramsey and Burley etc and all of our Legends throughout the years 4) reference to near neighbour in-breeding and finally 5) concerned questioning of bad cooking techniques while drunk on the sherry?
I'm sure that would cover most of the things we hold dear in our hearts. Feel free to add more...

People had said that Hewitt is like a young Gareth bale, so lets say he progresses like him in terms of his match responsibilities ie develops from a right back into a right winger. Then lets say that we sign stearman. This could set up everything for a young team for years to come!! Listen to this 1st team

Loach
Chambers stearman smith cresswell
Hewitt Hyam Wordsworth Jet
Mcgoldrick Taylor

Now bump this squad on 2 years then what would you say?!
