Brown Set to Join On Loan
Friday, 22nd Feb 2013 20:37

TWTD understands that Manchester United defender Reece Brown will be joining the Blues on loan until the end of the season. News of Town’s interest in the 21-year-old younger brother of former England international Wes broke this lunchtime.

Earlier this season, Brown, primarily a central defender, made 10 appearances while on loan at Coventry, playing alongside January signing David McGoldrick, before being recalled to Old Trafford due to his lack of opportunities after the change of manager at the Ricoh Arena.

England U19 and U20 international Brown, who is 6ft 3in tall, has previously had spells on loan at Bradford, Doncaster and Oldham, and has also played as a holding midfielder and at full-back. He is yet to make his Red Devils debut.

A number of other clubs are also believed to have been interested in signing Brown on loan. Mick McCarthy had played down the chances of adding further signings to his squad — he already has the five domestic loanees permitted in a matchday squad — but Brown’s versatility may have persuaded him to add him as cover for a number of areas of his squad.

If this happens, I'm backing the manager, as he seems to be better at doing the job tban any of us would be. Also, the young Danny Simpson was not one of the worst players to pull on a blue shirt! Though Clegg was.

MM seems to gave far more of a clue then Jewell or Keane ever did so there clearly is a reason for bringing him in. Just keep us up Mick, that's all we want/need this season.
That Arsenal lad we had on loan was a shocker - Karbassoon or something.......not a name that appeared on a football shirt again after he left us, if I recall correctly.
And mark fish retiring after being so poor for us in the first half of a game. Only mention him cos so many of these so called footballers have allegedly been defenders!!!
Com on you blues!!!!!!! Get a result against huddersfield!!

Very odd. Means one of our other loanees will need to sit out and while I have no problem in that being mcclean I would have thought creativity was the priority not more defenders.

I suspect kisnorbo will make way, ndaw will drop to the bench and brown will play dm and if a cb gets injured brown will drop to cb and ndaw return as dm. This guy is a goal threat, good at set pieces something ndaw isn't. If it works out we will sign him and ndaw will leave, simples

I wonder if Mick has seen something else in Hyams game of late and he'll start using him as a box to box midfielder rather than protecting the back four as much and give this responsibly to Brown. I've seen Hyam popping up in good positions in the box or continuing his forward runs when the move looks to be breaking down on the odd occasion so maybe brown is in as a direct replacement for N'daw which id welcome.

Brown and NDaw would be DM and Hyam pushed forward
He has the ability
Good signing - remember our goal is to stay up and I am sure he is in as a DM more than a CB - But he can always slot back if needed - players who are good in afew positions are priceless - yes we have not seen him but I trust MM and SAF over most others

I just can't understand the negativity over this. MM surely must have a reason for taking Brown Mark 2 in, even if it is only as cover. Maybe MM is being super-cautious in case two of our defenders get injured at the same time, or maybe he sees another role for the guy. If he's good enough, he'll play. If he isn't, he won't, so where's the problem? COYB!

Man Utd recalled him from Coventry because he wasn't playing ....and I can't see him starting for us!

Good cover and he wont be doing much else at Utd but play in the reserves. You never know we might end up signing him!

If we stay up and if he does well, then maybe we could sign him and let both Kisnorbo and N'Daw go. That leaves us with a very promising England under -20 international on a permanent contract.

all the negative posts !, so many top soccer managers !, give us a break , Ok its a loan [thats all it can be , but at least MM does seem to have a bit of pulling power, and i trust his judgement of players .
