Barnsley to Move for Target Broadfoot
Thursday, 4th Jul 2013 12:16

Barnsley are reportedly set to offer out-of-contract Blackpool defender Kirk Broadfoot a two-year contract. The Blues have been mentioned in connection with the Rangers man since March and are believed to have offered him terms.

While Blackpool are keen to keep hold of the 28-year-old right-back or centre-half, there has been no recent contact between the player and the club, according to reports in the North-West.

With Richard Stearman having returned to parent club Wolves at the end of the season, Town are in need of a right-back to compete with Elliott Hewitt — former Southend man Sean Clohessy was linked earlier today — and also cover at the centre of the defence.

We'll get Stearman - Big MIck is playing the game. We've just got to be patient.

Looks like we are losing out to every other club.Is there any money in the POT.I'm not panicking yet,but things do seem to be very laid back at the club,ok MM keeps his cards close to his chest and good for him he does, but I do think we should have seen a few fresh faces by now.

I just hope that we put on a decent performance against Crawley next week. I will be a bloody laughing stock if they beat us!

Reckon MM knows what he is doing. I trust him to bring in the player's required for a promotion push.

Not convinced about this guy. Hopefully Mick has other targets.

IF we have offered terms to the southend player, why would Stearman be coming? Makes no sense to have 3 right backs and Stearman won't be coming here to be back-up. Unless of course we look to utilise Hewitt in midfield a bit more this season but with Taylor, Edwards and Carson that also looks unlikely.

Clearly we have never followed up on this, so we aren't losing out on him.

He may also want to stay up North, which will be a big factor. He'll be first choice at Barnsley too, where as here he would be pushed very hard by Hewitt.

He prefers to play Central Defence too, so if Barnsley offer him that he won't be coming here.

There was nothing too concrete in this rumour, seems he splits opinions with Blackpool fans. I think Hewitt is good enough for that right back position but it would be nice to get Stearman.
