Taylor Makes Second Posh Debut
Saturday, 28th Sep 2013 20:51

On-loan striker Paul Taylor played the first 77 minutes as Peterborough United won 1-0 away at Rotherham United.

Manager Darren Ferguson told BBC Radio Cambridgeshire that he was pleased with the 25-year-old, who is back with his former club until November 2nd: “[He did] OK. He needed a game, there’s no question, he lasted a little bit longer than I thought. The boy’s a good player, I love players like that.

“He worked hard for the team, but he is more of an individual, he’s fantastic in one-on-one situations. He probably didn’t pass it quick enough.”

Posh midfielder Grant McCann scored the game’s only goal from the penalty spot in the 51st minute.

Meanwhile, Town’s Tuesday opponents Derby County have sacked manager Nigel Clough following today’s 1-0 defeat to local rivals Nottingham Forest. Clough had been the division's longest-serving boss having been at Pride Park since January 2009.

Former Stoke manager Tony Pulis was photographed at the game and is tipped to be his successor.

Glad Taylor started! On his way back to full fitness, if he can play 80mins next game, then 85, and then the full 90, it should build him up and push him! Bit confused about Derby's sacking? They aren't doing too bad and have scored a lot of goals so far? Lets hope it knocks them and can be used as a distraction to steal the 3 points!

Nice to see Taylor get a good shift under his belt. Apparently he played just behind the front two, i'd love to see us use him in that role when he returns. Very bemused by Derby sacking Clough. Hopefully the players didn't want him to leave and have a bad reaction on Tuesday. Rumours are Tony Pulis is lined up so that could be a terrible route one game of football!

Tony Pullis to Derby what a terrible choice wouldn't be impressed if he was appointed at Woodbridge Town.

Think Ferguson;s comment that Taylor is an individual sums up why he doesn't get in the Town team, MM doesn't like individuuals who have a bit of flare.

Still don't see Taylor fitting in the team, not a target man and if he is an individual player how will he link up with McGoldrick.
If behind the front two will he be able to play as team player or will he just run at the defence.

MM and TC are the people who may be able to turn him from an individual to a team player, then we will have a class player, so far expensive and a hand full, really not worth the possible 2.5million plus 8k a week

What are the conditions that take the cost of PT to 2.5m? No way he could be worth that and seems like a very bad deal negotiated by the previous regime. Mick has brought some much needed shrewdness to our transfer dealings and he is probably amazed at the clueless way that money was wasted.
