Striker Paul Taylor has been recalled from his loan spell at former club Peterborough United and will be available to play for the Blues in Friday’s live Sky game at home to Barnsley.

Taylor had been due to remain with Posh until after Saturday’s game at home to Leyton Orient but the Blues were entitled to recall the frontman after the first 28 days of his spell.

The 26-year-old made seven appearances for his former club while back at London Road but failed to find the net. He will rejoin the Blues squad for training at Playford Road this morning.

Speaking after watching him in action in his penultimate game for Posh, a 0-0 League One draw with Sheffield United last Tuesday, Town manager Mick McCarthy was pleased with what he saw.

“He looked much fitter and sharper,” he said. “He looked like he’d got that pace to run beyond people, up the sides of people.

“He’s had six games, not played them all fully but after 70 minutes he was chasing back and winning tackles the other night, which he couldn’t have done before he went there. He’s much better.”

I'd like to see Taylor just behind McGoldrick in a free role. Nouble hasn't even deserved his place on the bench over Wordsworth and i feel he'd be more likely to respond if dropped from the match day squad for a game or two and prove himself.

Every story has had posts about him having played his last game for us, we're going to sell him back, why isn't he playing here to get fit, he's useless, etc etc. It blows my mind that so many people lack basic insight and can be so confused by a simple bit of effective man management.
