Taylor Back With Blues
Wednesday, 30th Oct 2013 10:48

Striker Paul Taylor has been recalled from his loan spell at former club Peterborough United and will be available to play for the Blues in Friday’s live Sky game at home to Barnsley.

Taylor had been due to remain with Posh until after Saturday’s game at home to Leyton Orient but the Blues were entitled to recall the frontman after the first 28 days of his spell.

The 26-year-old made seven appearances for his former club while back at London Road but failed to find the net. He will rejoin the Blues squad for training at Playford Road this morning.

Speaking after watching him in action in his penultimate game for Posh, a 0-0 League One draw with Sheffield United last Tuesday, Town manager Mick McCarthy was pleased with what he saw.

“He looked much fitter and sharper,” he said. “He looked like he’d got that pace to run beyond people, up the sides of people.

“He’s had six games, not played them all fully but after 70 minutes he was chasing back and winning tackles the other night, which he couldn’t have done before he went there. He’s much better.”

Reckon if we've called him back early Mick wants to start him against Barnsley

Pleased by this, not least because I'm making the long trip to the match and I rate him.

Great news, will offer a lot more than Nouble.
Having said that, I would still like to see Marriot being given a decent chance.

Hope to see him start Friday. The team is in desperate need of freshening up. joe9087 I don't think its possible to offer less than Nouble at present.

Agree that only reason to recall him is he must be playing on friday probably in place of murphy.

Taylor just in behind McGoldrick sounds promising.

he's so ordinary for Posh they gave him back early

This great news, has some pace, twist and turns defenders, a far better option than Nouble who i fear is fast becoming Jet MK2!
Lets hope he starts on Friday instead of Murphy, seeing him tucked behind our only worthwhile striker, this could be the answer we have all been looking for.
But i expect MM to have him on the bench until the last 20mins, a tad predictable our Mick...

Recalling him early makes me wonder if one of our attacking players is struggling for fitness for Friday?
Hope it's not Didsy but welcome back Paul

must be something doubtful about one of our squad to warrant PT being called back - I dont rate him as a useful player

kalypso. unless ur trying to be humourous, that's a really ridiculous post. and you obviously not even read the story. we recalled him as is our right to do so, in fact, I doubt peterboro would even have had the option of sending him back until his loan period over.

Sounds like the perfect replacement for Nouble to me, replacing like for like.

Wouldn't even mind him starting on the bench but then replacing Murphy at half time should he not perform...he needs at least 45 mins to be effective not 10 mins at the end.

So what happened to all the moaners saying that he isn't a mm player, will never wear a town shirt again blah blah! Anyways good news, I suspect he will be a "super sub" but unfortunately it will be jack m that gives way on the bench!

karls dad- I think that's a bit unfair on JET. He is at least scoring (3 on Saturday) even if at a lower level. Unfortunately I can't see FN scoring at any level but really hope he does come good.

I'm not a big fan of Nouble, but his confidence will probably drop a bit if Taylor comes back and walks right in at his spot. This if what i would like to happen, but even so.

Good news. I think we desperately lack a player with the ability to run at people and put defences under pressure. I'd like to see Taylor just behind McGoldrick in a free role. Nouble hasn't even deserved his place on the bench over Wordsworth and i feel he'd be more likely to respond if dropped from the match day squad for a game or two and prove himself.

Wouldn't surprise me if Mick doesn't start him, as mentioned by runaround I've got a feeling that somebody upfront my have a slight injury. Like to see him start though as we need a win for certain on Friday.

And Marriot slips a little further away from being given a chance. Jordan Rhodes version 2 on the cards?

Was unsure whether sending Taylor out on loan was a good move ... but looks like it was a good decision by MM. Bottom line is Taylor wasn't fit enough to play for us - and sounds as though he is now. Good news and welcome back.

Not sure of playing didds up front, he is better playing a more roving role just behind the front player. Could play 3 up front, Taylor and Didds just behind Murphy. Not good dropping Murphy if we still play high balls to the front runners

This loan really has shown up the divs on the news comments. Every story has had posts about him having played his last game for us, we're going to sell him back, why isn't he playing here to get fit, he's useless, etc etc. It blows my mind that so many people lack basic insight and can be so confused by a simple bit of effective man management.
