Town Return to Adidas Monday, 7th Apr 2014 12:59 Town have signed a new four-year kit deal with adidas, the manufacturers of the strips in which the Blues won the 1978 FA Cup and 1981 UEFA Cup. The arrangement with existing kit supplier Mitre is up this summer.
The new deal will see adidas become the club’s “official technical kit supply partner” from July 1st. Previously, the Blues wore adidas kit between 1978 and 1990.
“We are delighted to be working again with adidas, one of the biggest names in sport,” joint-managing director Ian Milne told the club site.
“They have a proven track record in producing quality sportswear and having spoken to Mick McCarthy and the players, I know how much they are looking forward to seeing next season’s new kit.”
Fellow MD, Jonathan Symonds, added: “Seeing our players wearing the three stripes again will no doubt rekindle memories of some great times in the past at Ipswich Town. Let’s hope there will be some great times ahead as well. That is what we are all striving for.”
Commenting for adidas (UK), Steve Holland said: “We are delighted to agree this partnership with Ipswich Town Football Club.
“They have a rich heritage with the adidas brand and having been part of iconic moments in the club’s past history, we are looking forward to more successes in the coming four seasons.”
The club’s director of retail operations, Lee Hyde, said: “We have been working on the new kits for the 2014/15 season with adidas for some time.
“I know that the fans will love what we have arriving very soon. The product quality is of the very highest standard. It is fantastic news to have adidas on board for the next four seasons.
“We’ll be confirming the pre-order and launch dates soon for both replica kits and the new training wear package.”
Town are expected to reveal the new home and away kits next week. The new deal will also see the club’s Planet Blue shop in the Sir Bobby Robson Stand given a makeover.
Earlier in the season Town gave a big hint that adidas would be the new suppliers by wearing their training gear after delivery of Mitre benchwear was delayed.

We will probably not get the same type of kit as chelsea. We will probably get the same type as Hull or Swansea.

Still got the original ones .....but unfortunately they no longer fit. On a serious note, although the quality of Adidas is good, all the strips incorporate the three stripes down the arms; which I find frankly very boring. The current tops basic design is great other than the iron/stick on badges, but would like Adidas to use some of the features of out current home shirt. COYB.

I can see the sponsorship money from Adidas going straight into Evans' pocket. We must remember FFP and not spend anything

Sorry but quite disappointed with this decision, Adidas kit is so boring with those awful stripes down the arm. Limits the designers to produce a unique kit for us. Always said the club should have allowed the fans to design the kits, as was done with the badge. Still, I suppose as long as it's blue I'll support it. COYB.

Great news! Adidas or Umbro, I would have been happy with either. Anything is better than Mitre.

As long as we have a group of players that can play as a team. And not a bunch of lightweight primma donnas that are more concerned about what they look like!!

Would love to go with quite a retro look and an Adidas Originals logo, but don't know if they are a separate division? May be wishful thinking

Great news. Anything better than the crap that is Mitre. Anyone know if you have to opt in to buying one or if it's included in the season ticket direct debit? :-)

would love it if we could have the old-school trefoil logo (still shown on the 'adidas originals' ranges) rather than the modern pyramid design.
