Duo's Yeovil Exit Confirmed
Tuesday, 20th May 2014 18:04

Yeovil manager Gary Johnson has confirmed that reported Town targets Luke Ayling (pictured) and Byron Webster are leaving Huish Park with their contracts up this summer.

Johnson says the duo and goalkeeper Marek Stech, who had a trial with Town in 2011, have turned down offers of new terms with the Glovers, who have been relegated back to League One.

“We’ve tried to speak to either them or their agents and they won’t be coming back to Yeovil, so we’ve got to not have them in our thoughts and look to the next ones that we can give an opportunity to look to,” he told the Western Gazette.

We understand the Blues have been keeping tabs on the Glovers pair with right-back or midfielder Ayling of greater interest than centre-half Webster.

Newly-promoted Brentford are also believed to have been eyeing former Arsenal trainee Ayling, who at 22 would be subject to compensation, while Leeds are said to have been looking at 27-year-old Webster. Keeper Stech is expected to join Watford.

Ayling and Stech would be very useful additions. Not sure we need another CB when we have 3 of the best in the Championship in Smith, Berra and Chambers.

I imagine Webster would be relatively cheap cover. Would be delighted with Ayling & Stech though.

Not sure why all the excitement about players leaving another club. There's no concete evidence that we are even in for them, or that we would get them even if interested.

Armiem well the news is exciting because they have confirmed they are leaving. It's been wider speculated we keeping tabs on them. Surely to any supporter who loves speculation and the ladder in how a deal comes about would be excited about this news

I`m not sure where the thought that Stech is any good. Did anyone see their last game , he was rubbish. Is he an improvement? Absolutely not . Hope he goes to Watford.

I would be happy with Ayling but do we need another centre back with the young lad signing a pro contract? I don't really think Stech is an improvement on loach or gerken. On another note Marc Albrighton is leaving Aston Villa: I rate him very highly might be worth a look but I imagine he will have big wages.

Sean St Ledger has been released by Leicester and will be a free agent this summer. Would not be at all surprised if we see ourselves being linked with him in the coming weeks.

What about Hewitt? Surely bringing him into the fold would be a better option than to spend money (compensation) on an alternative young RB.

Diamonddazzler91- I think Hewitt is a better right midfielder than right back. We would a have a strong right side if we had Ayling-RB and Hewitt-RM

Diamond & Mitch. By Jove Missus!! You're absolutely right. I'd totally forgot about Hewitt. I can't even remember where he went last season. Was it Gillingham?

Signing both Webster & Ayling would be right up Micks street,
We could play

Gerkin.
Ayling Berra Smith Mings.
Hewitt Chambers Webster Cresswell.
Skuse Hyam.

Mick could play his favourite system defending from the front & a hard team to beat!

Not to mention it would get supporters off Skuse & Hyams back for not passing forward,...........................................as no one in front of them to pass to!!!!!!!
