Derry: No Progress on Bialkowski Switch
Thursday, 10th Jul 2014 09:47

Notts County manager Shaun Derry says “nothing’s progressed” on Town’s move for his keeper Bartosz Bialkowski. The Blues and Magpies are understood to be continuing to talk regarding the 27-year-old Pole's proposed switch.

Speaking on Magpie Player after his side beat Arnold Town 4-0 in their first pre-season friendly last night Derry said: “Nothing’s progressed at this moment in time.

“Obviously we’re fully aware of Ipswich’s interest but as it stands at the minute Bart’s absolutely fine with the situation and we’re looking at him as still our number one for the start of the season.

He added: “Of course [you want to hold on to your players] but you have to look at the bigger picture sometimes.

“For me, it’s just imperative that we just get through these next few games. There’s so much that happens in the final week or two weeks before the season starts, so I suppose at this minute everything is just pure speculation.”

County playing silly with this . Complete with terms of original agreement by weekend or forget the whole thing and move on ! They are the club wanting him off the wage bill !

I'm not so sure Bialkowski will be as happy as Derry is making out about the situation. I'm sure he wants the move to a bigger club and will want to get down and sort it as soon as possible.

Just another one of those deals that go on and on !!! unusual for our present management. because MM deals are done and dusted before we get to know about them !! but still press on and I expect it will get sorted one way or other.

Michael11 - completely agree! Suspect wages will be a formality. Hopefully we can get this sorted sooner rather than later. A new keeper will need time to gel with the back four!

Just move on and forget it, Notts County being complete timewasters! I,m sure there are better keepers out there, MM will have other targets for sure, Still not thrilled even if if came over today, as before, ask the question..... would you be happy with this guy inbetween the sticks Derby day??? not sure i would!

I am still puzzled by why Bialkowski is prepared to risk coming here and being no. 2 to Gerks when he is a shoe in as first name on the team sheet at County - unless his wages are really poor there or he (and Derry) are under extreme pressure to both get him off the wage bill and get a high fee. If that is the case County are still going to have to shell out for a replacement and balance paying low and being the divisions whipping boys against paying medium to high and just relaxing the financial pressure a bit.

& I'm sure Notts County digging their heals in has nothing to do with Derry still having a bee in his bonnet towards us over the whole 'meeting with Keane and leaving the ground without signing' debacle a few years ago...

County are probably asking for silly money as they know what we made from Cresswell last week.
Stick to our guns on what we think he's worth, if they dont play ball move on plenty of other keepers out there

I was wondering whether it's us delaying things, possibly waiting to hear whether we can do a deal with West Ham on Henderson.

obviously doesn't tell the whole story but if this is anything to go by, looks a very good shot stopper

I'm sure the Cresswell deal has an influence, the old 'now you've got a few quid we want something for him' but I for 1 don't mind us sticking to our guns. In the Clegg era no deals got done because he was so inflexible about negotiating. Where a deal is there to be done, 9 times out of 10 the new regieme have got it over the line but at least this shows they've got a mean streak too and are prepared to hold out for the right deal / go for someone else if they can't get the right deal for the club

Pull the plug,it's not worth the hassle.Go for Henderson instead.

It's not a shot stopper we need. It's a keeper who can catch under pressure, communicate effectively with his defence and distribute properly.

If we do pull the plug then I hope to god we dont sign henderson. Admittedly he did get better as his loan spell went on, but he had a very shaky start and had a battle on his hands to win over an element of fans, due to his comments regarding his future being at west ham etc. He also turned us down whilst at pompey and potentially put them in more financial trouble by turning us down. He is just an average championship keeper and his distribution was poor. There are better keepers out there.

Maybe we could offer them a player on loan for the season as a way of compensation.

The longer this drags on the more likely MM will be pursuing other targets, relax chaps

Notts County's loss. They will have a player unhappy and on high wages for them. Unlikely they will be able to sign many players if he is one of their top earners. Not a vital signing for us as he is likely to be second choice so we should hold firm and let them drop their demands. Im sure we have other targets in mind so no big deal if Notts County stay stubborn. They need him off their wage bill more than we need him.

Esssxtractorboy id imagine if we are paying a fee for bilawoski he would prob be first choice

hadleighboyblue added 12:24 - Jul 10
if MM and Webster rate him enough to be our No. 1 keeper , then a small fee is not unreasonable , or offer them a loan player .

Suspect Henderson's wages will be too high for us and that might mean another loan arrangement - much better to get our own player in .

Does anyone know if this bloke is even any good???

Notts county are a league below us and nearly got relegated last season.

Also, as an England fan I would rather encourage a young English goalkeeper rather than a foreign one or, (just a radical idea this one), produce one of our own from the youth team. Remember when we were poor and had to bring our own kids through???

jimmy86. like some others you still seem to be under the illusion that Henderson turned us down before. keane actually confirmed that the only one of the 3 pompey players we were trying to sign, that we actually talked to was the right back(whos name escapes me at mo). we never spoke to pearce or Henderson so he didn't even get the chance to turn us down. as for now,id take him if we could sign him permanently or a seaon long loan with no call back, but would rather we managed to sign bialkowski as from all reports he's a good keeper.
