U18s Lose to Southend
Saturday, 26th Jul 2014 16:59 by James Ager

Town's U18 side continued their pre-season preparations with a disappointing 3-0 defeat against Southend United at Playford Road on Saturday morning.

The visitors opened the scoring inside the opening few minutes - Josh Emmanuel's weak backpass allowing Brandon Scott to nip in and toe-poke the ball into the net.

George Fowler's header was well saved by James McRee in the Shrimpers goal, before Chris Smith's long ball found Cemal Ramadan's head - and although his effort looped over McRee it ricocheted off the bar and the keeper gathered.

That was the closest Town came and a lacklustre second-half display saw the Essex side score two more goals.

Renei Batlokwa's through ball found Nico Cotton who finished well on 52, before Manny Adeyeye completed the scoring when he converted a low cross from the right.

U18s: Trialist (Hursey 58), Emmanuel, Kenlock, Benyu, Fowler (Partridge 67), C Smith, Jones (Morris 67), Blanchfield (Dozzell 67), J Smith (McLoughlin 29), Ramadan, Ford.
