Returning McGoldrick Aiming High
Friday, 8th Aug 2014 06:00

David McGoldrick is aiming high when it comes to setting himself a scoring target for the new season.

The objective is to improve on last season’s 16-goal haul, which he had achieved by February, so injuries permitting he would appear to have an excellent chance of achieving his ambition.

But right now McGoldrick would gladly settle for a regular slot up front in Town’s starting line-up, having not made a competitive appearance since picking up a serious knee injury in the 0-0 home draw with Blackpool almost six months ago.

He said: “The target is always to beat last season, so I want to beat 16. The main thing is to keep my knee healthy though, get fully fit and get in the team.

“We’ve got good strikers here. There’s the big man [Balint Bajner] — we call him Priskin — and there’s also Murph, Tayls and Frank, while Maz [Jack Marriott] is coming through. It’s going to be hard to get in the team.”

McGoldrick recalled the moment he picked up the injury, adding: “I knew I did it straight away because I’d done it before. I caught my leg in the ground and I felt something go.

“I’ve been having injections in London throughout the off-season for my medial ligament and it’s much stronger now than it was before the injury.”

New contract ...
There is no comparison between McGoldrick & the other forwards at the club. When fully fit.& the risk of the injury reoccuring has faded, he starts every game whether we play with 1, 2 or 3 up front.

Golezowski I had noticed that ALL of your comments on TWTD are negative. So I took a quick look at your comment history and sure enough everything you have to say about the club, the players, the management, the atmosphere, everything, is totally negative!
Question: are you a Norwich fan? You sound like one.

If I choose to support the team I love since I was 5 by showing an alternative point of view reflecting the reality that the club has been in decline for the last 30 years, don't you go looking down your nose at me.

Keep imagining all the negative posts on here are NCFC if it helps you accept mid table mediocrity.

Surely this is natural of all professional sportsmen to want keep on improving...non story.
But hope he does improve on last season and if he remains fit probably will do.

Gimme a break golekowski, you think it makes you more of a fan to whinge all the time??? Supporting a team is supposed to be exactly that. I haven't seen one single positive thing you've said about the club on here. You can't be enjoying it, and you certainly aren't supporting it. So do us all a favour.
