No Moves Before Window Closes
Monday, 1st Sep 2014 22:05

Town have confirmed that there will be no ins or outs before the transfer window closes at 11pm.

Despite Leicester and then Crystal Palace’s interest in David McGoldrick, and an Eagles approach for Tyrone Mings, no one left Portman Road.

With former loanee Ryan Tunnicliffe set to join Blackburn from Fulham on loan, there were no additions to Mick McCarthy’s squad.

McCarthy is set to give his view on the day’s proceedings in an interview with Ipswich Player on Tuesday morning.

About the most exciting thing surrounding the club so far this season - the speculation on what players might leave! I suppose we now have to wait until the Premiership clubs announce their squads until we can get our hopes up once more...on what loans we can get in, commence Mick searching Wiki for players height, weight, no goals scored and experience statistics.

Another big step forward by club to attract bums on seats !! Let one of our best players go in summer , let players who can run with the ball go Taylor , Edwards . Poor negative hoof ball on pitch and expensive to watch compared to championship prices .
I for one am fed up trying to convince my kids to go anymore as they are bored silly as am I most games .
Too many false promises about signings the whole summer

You know what I used to be one of these Happy Clappers but I am pleased to say that I have now seen the light! I suggest that more of you wake up and smell the coffee before it's too late!

Blimey JWM I'm shocked! - sure that's not somebody else on your keyboard?

It's like the board at the club has knocked their heads together and thought ''well we're not going to spend anything so how about a bit of reverse psychology, we'll treat our supporters like dogs, we'll take away their biggest juiciest bone (McG) and then at the last second recover it for them and then they'll all be happy again but with nothing gained - yep that's the plan! ''

Its not good to spend money in the pressure couldran (spl) that the transfer window is. The plan has always been to bring in 1-2 wuslity PL players on loan for the season. THATs
where thd Cresswell money will b going. Judging by young Bishop's midfield
performance on sat id say we've almost found our young creative mudgirlder from within our own ranks. Henshall is going to get better. Stewart is due to return soon. We don't need yo be spending mega bucks right now.

I just hope mcg and mings dont have their heafs turned by this interest in them. For what it's worth both palace snd Leicester will be back in the championship next season anyway.

As depressing as it may sound... No movement looks to be a result for us today. Hopefully the midfielders we've got to come back/gel in will come good in the next few weeks. Some 'winnable' games coming up. I've said it before, you don't need to be world beaters to get out of this league, but certainly a lot better than we performed last month.

Should have sold him for that price? He will not be the same player as last year?

We seemingly have a lot of fans who align with current regime. It is a concern we do not have next era of young fans coming in, place like a morgue. It is embarrassing watching on sky listening to a fan and his mate repeating "blue army" periodically every twenty mins with one or two others joining. Answer is to not price next generation of fan out and stop relying on people my age to prompt the club to liven forwards. People running the club wind me up almost daily.

Town4me Williams was coming here on loan as part of theings 2.5 mill deal to Palace but we turned it down. Bonkers total Bonkers, Mings is worth about 300k at best, Williams is just what we need.
Pleased Didz is staying but keeping Mings was a mistake for that kind of cash plus Williams

Personally, i think we have completely lost the plot. As i understand, Mcgoldrick is going into the last year of his contract and then (most probably) will walk away for free at the end of the season. Mings for 2.5 million, has the world gone mad?? But from an ITFC point of view, i think we should of cashed in on Mcgoldrick for the reported 7 million, sold Mings for 2.5 million and have a cool 10 million in the pot to build a team capable of winning the Championship. 10 million can go a long way and as things stand, we have Mcgoldrick who will leave for free and Mings who is only on the verge of the 1st team and realistically, a squad that is not capable of pushing the top 2. I like Mcgoldrick, very entertaining but comments saying "who would we replace him with" well the budgies did a fair job of finding someone for around 2 million so i guess we could too.

Long story short, i think (personally) for ITFC it made perfect sense to sell them both and invest in the team (assuming ME puts the money back in) instead of being left with not a lot at the end of the season....

Call me mad lol.

I bet my money on it mcgoldrick will sign a new contract this season all the arm chair mangers and the dick that sits behind me with his kids will delighted then get sold next season then the money will soak up the bills. Sale would of took the balance bk into the black this season then poor old evens would of struggled to blame the FFP for bleading the club dry after his mistake are to blame not the club and fans this transfer window would of been easier to swallow if we had a cat 1 youth training but to tight to pay money out for the softwear and MM lack of youth team playing.
