Clark Expects Collison to Join Town
Thursday, 18th Sep 2014 15:32

Birmingham City manager Lee Clark expects former West Ham man Jack Collison to join the Blues, the 25-year-old having spent a couple of days training with the Midlands club earlier this week.

BBC WM Sport reports that Clark has said he expects the Wales international to join Town, Blues boss Mick McCarthy having revealed that he had offered the midfielder a short-term contract until January yesterday.

Free agent Collison recently spent time training at Playford Road and played two games for the Town U21s.

It's an absolute no brainer, premier league and international experience, just needs to recapture his best form.

is this the Premiership loan player MM promised us?

Yes it's another option, but better than most that we have. Good age too. How many premiership loans have been a success here? 1/10? Then they all move on or get called back early. Would be a solid signing.

Maybe blue_steele, maybe. I get the impression that Mick will go with Collinson, Ambrose, Bru and Bishop until January and then depending on how we are doing and how they are performing stick with it or bring in a Williams type of player around then perhaps.

It is a shame that Lee Clarke feels the need to keep talking about contract negotiations at our club.
I guess he must know Jack Collison's agent really quite well.

He cant be the loan player as hes a free agent without a club. Unless he is loaning himself to us from his own club....

......... not enthralled by this - he's obviously stalled on what we have offered him, therefore how much does he want to be here ?? ........ at best, whatever he has to offer, he will play one - miss three - thro' injury.

Not convinced that he is a player that wants to play Football as much as he wants to be on the payroll somewhere - and there are a few around !!

This was exactly my thoughts when he skipped off to Brum no doubt to play one vlubs terms offered against another.

I just don't think this will happen. I said yesterday I wasn't holding my breath, good job I'm not really.

No harm having a look at him till January. A signing with massive potential with very little gamble involved.

What the hell do we need a loan player from a premier league club for . Surely the idea is to build a team within our club Tuesday night is probably the best team performance I've seen in many years we have two young players with terrific potential to take us on to a new level.

Of course his going look for the best deal, short term isn't attractive to a player that carries injuries, if brim had given him to the end of the season that's where he'd have gone, no loyalty in football as we all know these days and really can you blame him what else is he going do drive a taxi??

sixtouchfootball added 23:50 - Sep 18
Why do people keep referring to this deal as a loan from a prem club??
The bloke is a free agent so at present isn't earning squat. If he's keeping his options open then fair play to him. If we have offered him terms they will be our terms, not his!

Got to say, Mick & Co. (let's not forget "Co.") are very astute when it comes to unearthing a bargain. If this works out, then great. If not, then no major harm done .

Can't blame people for thinking is this another reo Coker or bowyer, and they may well be right. I don't see too much harm in giving him a chance though

I only mention a young Premiership loan player because as player after player either left or was loaned out, MM couldn't stop reminding everyone he was waiting till the transfer window closed before he strengthened his squad.

well Mick, where is he?

Maybe it's because Bishop has just burst on the scene and playing exceptionally well, meaning a loan deal is no longer a priority.

And don't we all want 'our' own playing every week?

Just a thought
