Williams: The Best Club for Me to Join
Monday, 29th Sep 2014 13:32

Returning loanee Jonny Williams says he decided to rejoin Town ahead of a number of other Championship clubs having enjoyed his spell with the Blues last season.

Bolton Wanderers, managed by the Wales international's former Eagles boss Dougie Freedman, are understood to have been one of the other interested parties.

The 20-year-old has joined Town on a 93-day loan - although his parent club Crystal Palace have a 24-hour recall after the first 28 days - and is available for Tuesday night’s game at Sheffield Wednesday.

“I found out after we lost to Newcastle in the Capital One Cup last week that I could go out on loan,” Williams told Ipswich Player.

“I had a few options but Ipswich was one of the main clubs that came to mind immediately and I felt it was the best club for me to join.

“There were so many positives from my time here before. There is a great team spirit here, the fans were great to me, but the main thing was the belief the manager showed in me. I’m looking forward to playing for him again.

“Things look like they are going well on the pitch and the club is moving forward. The play-offs are the aim and I’m delighted to have the chance to try and help keep Ipswich in the top six.”

He says he’s not yet given any thought to staying with Town beyond his initial spell: “All I am concentrating on at the moment is Sheffield tomorrow.

“I want to play as many games as I can between now and January and then we will see what happens after that.”

Welcome back Jonny! Love watching you play, you've always got a smile on your face and clearly enjoy your football. That attitude is a big part of what makes you such cracking player, never lose it!

Good signing.
Hopefully will help us to claim the first place in this league which we should have.

We should not be aiming to beat Wednesday. Our aim should be to thrash them. We should not be in the same division as teams like Wednesday, Brighton, Millwall and Forest. It's time for us to step up our game and regularly record 3/4-0 wins in every game.

Great news, welcome back Jonny, was a pleasure to meet you at Watford away towards the end of last season, sure you'll be a great success, can't wait to see you running at opposition defences, scaring the hell out of them again!!

Think he will help get more fans into portman road. We could see some pretty decent footie. Well done MM.

Tough on Bish, perhaps he needs to go on loan somewhere to keep match sharp.

I agree with Irishtim. Should be a real crowd draw. Can only see positives in this loan.

If he does as well this time round, we have to look to make it permanent.

Hahaha, guentchev I love the optimism but I can't see that myself ;-) Williams is a wonderful player to watch and can't wait to watch him and McGoldrick in the same team as each other, even Bishop. Fed up with football league show keep on saying we rely so much on McGoldrick, they never look at the bigger picture of us picking up clean sheets with a solid defence. Id be happy with a point tomorrow but I know we can get 3, COYB!

Bontcho - You could drop Barcelona or Real Madrid into the championship for a season and they wouldn't win every game 3 or 4 nil. ! Nice concept though, although the next couple of games may well not turn the way we want them to.

It provides us with extra tactical options and flexibility. With Bishop and Jonny we will have a serious threat through the middle and should improve on our possession stats.

Its not a bad thing for Bishop, it gives us more options, competition for places and takes a little pressure of him.Its also a great chance for him to learn form a genuinely talented footballer.
We have serious options now in the squad with Ambrose & Collison also wanting to get their careers back on track!

IMO we now have 4 of the best players in the league which would get in my championship XI. Berra, Mings, McGoldrick and Williams, 4 of the best players in the championship will surely be enough for us to make playoffs

@IvorFeeling

Good point mate. 12 pairs will probably only get me to half time so I'll take a few more!
