Season ticket holders can purchase up to four further tickets at discounted prices for the visit of Watford on Saturday 8th November. The additional tickets will be priced at £10 for adults, £8 for seniors, students and under-20s, and £1 for U16s in all areas of the ground.

Just lower match day prices by a few pounds for every game, or is that too obvious?

Agree with Taricco Fan.
The club is aware that numbers should be higher and are trying various ways of increasing attendance.
How much better and simpler it would be if club had one price for all games, varying of course depending on where the seat was.
Lowered the price for all these seats for all the games, and allowed phone bookings once more as they are for Group Save above.
The positive publicity and subsequent increase in sales would I am sure make it financially worth while.

Happy days! I'm on job seekers so I'll be there. :)

Thanks itfc, this is a great idea.

well bundling is a good way to increase revenue, particularly as one of the games is a mid week game, where more "floaty" supporters (ie not season ticket holders) would be unlikely to buy a one off ticket even for a few pounds less. just as season tickets reward loyalty it's nice that a smaller period of loyalty is also rewarded

the fact is both price promotions and bundling are an effective way to raise revenue. They work in TV, they work in shopping, and they work in sports too.

the only reason not to do them would be if we were consistently at capacity.

Having different games at different prices in the championship is ridiculous. People dont come to see Leeds or Rotherham, they come to support Ipswich Town. Do the fans a favour and make all games the same, about 15-25% cheaper than they are now

Why are we favoring those on benefits over those with a job? That's very unequal. Why should someone have to pay more for their ticket just because they have a job.

toxtethblue - my thoughts exactly.

I've worked hard all my life with no hand outs from the Govt. I see football tickets as a luxury (which I cannot afford at the moment). Job seekers allowance is supposed to provide a standard of living, like heating, clothing and food etc. In my opinion if you can afford to spend ANY of your job seekers allowance on football tickets you sholdn't be getting it in the first place.
Isn't it great that I can't afford to go to many games, yet through my taxes i'm paying for others to go!

Over a season - how many more fans do you think will come if we reduce the price of every game by 25%?

Enough to increase revenues overall? I doubt it.

Town are losing millions.
20,000 at 20 quid is not as good as 15,000 at 30 quid - do the naths

20,000 people buying food, drink, programmes and merchandise would make up the gap, it could be argued.

I thought the food and drink was already sorted by an outside company. So the budget for the whole season was sorted.

I think these are good initiatives, I especially like the Job Seekers discount, I know a lot criticise those on benefits but there are a lot of people on Job Seekers that do not choose to be but it is the only income they have available. If you have worked all your life then you cannot know how hard it is to find work and a year ago, I was in this position for a little while. It was tough. And what is important, ITFC is a huge part of the community, a family club, the peoples club, criticised in recent years in some quarters for forgetting that, I feel it likely that those criticising the club will feature heavily in those criticising that JSA discount. Well class division has no place at ITFC in my opinion and the club should be accessible to all who care for it regardless.

cant win on this debate... Only way of filling Portman Road is for success on the field. May need some prolific goalscoring, and ruthlessness from our squad for that.....

Hang on a minute am I reading this right? People aged 18-30 who are on JSA are able to purchase tickets for the Wolves game for £10 when people who work have to pay full price? This has really got my back up. If people on JSA are so hard up then surely that £10 would be needed for more important things than a football ticket, No? I see there is someone who has posted on here saying that's its a community club and that people who are on JSA taking up this offer have just as much right as those who work all week to afford to pay to attend games shouldn't be criticised because class division has no place @ ITFC. Talk about guilty conscience, what are you on about? If you want to attend football matches then you pay the same prices as those people who have to work all week to afford the "luxury" of attending games. As I said football is a luxury not a necessity. It just seems to me that people who have worked there fingers to the bone all there lives to be able to budget football into there living costs only to look at this article to be told that really why bother really is a slap in the face! Reading this has made me think long and hard about attending games now to the point that me & my Dad have decided against paying £32.50 each for tickets on Saturday to watch Blackburn game and got issued with a refund and in the process making me think my decision not to renew my season ticket for this season after several years having one because I couldn't afford it was not such a bad thing???

Perhaps a gesture of discounted tickets for NHS or armed forces personnel would be slightly more constructive than targeting a very small section of society, unlikely to have any interest in ITFC and won't come back to the next game becuase they can't afford it!? Pathetic.

........ any concession on ticket prices has to be welcomed - but what is this other than 'simplicity made complicated' ? I agree with other posters, reduce prices by a few quid for all games, and fill some of those all too empty spaces within the ground.

blueboy1981 added 21:43 - Oct 13
....... any reduction in prices has to be across the board - there are plenty of people struggling with mortgage / rent payments, etc; that are working hard, and in all probability no better off than people on JSA, etc; etc;

I think this smacks of the Club (or who's idea it is) - not having too much experience of economic / society financial issues.

Across the board - and put bums on seats for the rest of the season.

And - in doing so - don't forget the die hard Season Ticket Holders - for once !
They are important too.

Some of the people on here have obviously been taken in by Ian D Smith and the rest of the Tory anti benefits propaganda. All people on jsa are feckless worthless layabouts?! Wrong. It may be in the tories interests to convince you of this but most people on jsa want to work and are trying to find a job - it isnt easy. So people on jsa should only have enough money to eat and heat their home? Rubbish! Im on jsa, coming off it in a few weeks as have part time work lined up. Before that (up until July) I held a job for 11 years. Never once did I bemoan people who claimed benefits while I paid taxes because we're only someone elses decision away from being in the same boat. Have a think about that. The royal family are the biggest load of benefit scroungers on these Isles, not people temporarily out of work and looking for work... well done ITFC

Thank you to the people that have backed people on benefits.

Yes I'm on benefits cause iv got 2 kids and a house and I'm not in work but I'm trying to get a job and it's not that easy! I lost my job 3 years ago and I was working for 10 years before that, so I think I'm intitled to it! Believe me im not wanting to be on it I'd rather be working.

Yes I feel sorry for the people who have to pay full price, but I can see where the club is coming from doing this

Please don't paint everyone who is on jobseekers with the same brush!

well i think all the promotions are a good idea, how ever im not getting into a jsa row, but i think its appalling that they have stopped it at 30 years old, what about all the other people older than 30 who want to go, this wasnt a good idea,

thebeat added 09:23 - Oct 14
I think there should be a bit more consistency with reduced tickets. My old man is coming to stay this weekend so will come to the match with me.
He will have to pay full price whereas if he came down a few weeks later he'd get in for a tenner.
I think season ticket holders should have the option of buying 6 £10 tickets a season for family and friends.

Razor added 10:33 - Oct 14
What the club are basically saying in a roundabout but will never admit is that ticket prices are too high in the first place and a general reduction to more realistic prices will benefit all.

Not to be too negative though, I guess any sort of promotion to put bums on seats must be applauded as long as the season ticket holders still stay ahead of the game----not time to do the maths!!

toxtethblue - no-one is saying that people on JSA are layabouts. That's not the point. The real issue is that it is highly unlikely that there are thousands of people in this position who have a genuine interest in ITFC, will make the effort to go in person to the ticket office with the necessary paperwork just for some poor quality Championship game if they do, probably won't come back to Portman Road because it is too expensive on a usual matchday. Therefore it is hardly going to make one jot of difference to the gate size and is just the usual meaningless drivel from the Ipswich PR machine, with no hope of having a significant impact on attendances. If the club are going to make noise about ticket promotions then they should do it properly and include a much larger section of society to capture the interest. These people running our club are supposed to be professional businessmen!
