Agree NSL, we're not saying that all people on JSA are lazy people, it's that any benefits someone gets should be just about enough money to live, eat, pay ur bills etc. Not to be spent on luxury items or days out enjoying yourself.

NSL - I don't think it will attract many new supporters, but it may allow some supporters who have temporarily fallen on hard times to go when otherwise they would not be able to - that has to be a good thing. It is disheartening to see attendances fall from 25k 8-10 years ago to the 15k they are at now. I agree, more measures are needed and as I stated in my first post (of the two) I think prices need to be consistently and significantly lower. This, along with the improvement on the pitch and the prospect of success will improve attendances.

Town4me - yes lets not allow people who are proably fed up by their plight and temporary circumstances a bit of light relief and enjoyment hey?! Unbelievable. Do you read the Daily Mail by any chance?!

I don't care what anyone does their money, JSA or not. that is hardly the point either! Great, the club are making it more accessible to the few that really want to go but cannot usually afford it, if only for a game or two, but as an attempt to improve attendances over the longer term which is what is desperately what we need and using the PR machine to show how much they care then it is a really poor attempt to be honest.

Those who say better performances will attract bigger gates are wrong too. I mean we are 2 points off the top and the stadium will still be half empty on Saturday!! We couldn't even fill the ground for the Norwich game. 15 years ago we could have easily sold 50,000 tickets for the playoff final. I doubt we would even sell out our allocation if we got there in May.

How so many people can draw negatives out of this post is beyond me?
Its much and easier and benaficial for your own being to maybe put less focus on other people and there ins/out goings, and concentrate more on your own personal attributes?
This way the comments on this site could actually help the behind the scenes at PR to come to better conclusions about there match day prices and other various issues?
personally, a peaceful protest to let ME and the rest of the board know that the finacial side of 'our' club for the supporters is having a very negative affect on not only us as people.. but also our bank statements?
let the possitive shine through..
be happy :)

The main reason why attendances have been falling year-on-year for the past ten years or so is down to the entertainment.
When Roy Keane was appointed there was a bit of excitement and attendances went up. Since then the lack of entertainment (or perceived lack of entertainment) has increased apathy and so hence the need for more of these ticket offers.

If we were playing free-flowing attacking passing football we would have far bigger gates. I know the football has gotten better recently but it'll take time before people start coming back again. Let's face it a lot of the football before this seson under MM had been pragmatic long ball.

Hopefully these tickets will help to get more and more people into the ground.

....... no one should look down upon people on JSA, many are not in that position through fault of their own, and in reality, there is very few opportunities out there especially for upper age people, or indeed youngsters.
Of course, equally so, there are people who simply would rather not work for whatever reason, and possibly do not warrant what genuine JSA people do.

Therefore any reduction in ticket prices should be across the board to remain fair for all - whatever category an individual fits into - not forgetting Season Ticket Holders who continuously support the Club, up front, or otherwise financially.

I think MOST promotions can only benefit in getting more people in the ground can only help, however I think that there can't be too many people taking this discount(or returning to future games) up this Saturday. What about more discount for the younger ones(I'm not saying this because I'm travelling 160 miles with 3 kids this Saturday) after all they are the future of the club and getting them in young when the team is playing and doing well can only be good long term.

More people need to start kicking at people further up the ladder not lashing out at those a few rungs below them....and prices need to come down generally! When it gets to where even those on a wage can't afford to watch then something is profoundly wrong so put the blame where it lies not with the lazy/easy target.
Minimum wage for an apprentice is £2.68hour ..... now how does that work!!
Let's make The Town the FC St Pauli of UK!!
