Premier League Scouts Out in Force to Watch Mings
Sunday, 19th Oct 2014 09:55

Premier League scouts were once again at Portman Road en masse yesterday to watch left-back Tyrone Mings in action.

Their presence was noted by a number of this morning’s papers with Arsenal’s chief scout Steve Rowley and ex-Blue Peter Morris, who scouts for Newcastle, amongst those there running the rule over the 21-year-old, who was the subject of a rebuffed £3 million offer from Crystal Palace in the summer.

Former Blues skipper Ian Atkins was also reportedly at the game representing Everton, along with Sunderland’s head of scouting Steve Houston.

Their attendance and interest in Mings, who won September's Championship Player of the Month award, will have come as no surprise to manager Mick McCarthy, who said on Friday: “They’re all watching him, he’s doing great.”

This guy has more potential than Luke Shaw in my opinion, mainly down to his physical stature. The point i'm trying to make is a that a typical stupidy over inflated price that British players are being sold for is all we should except. Even then I'd prefer him to stay, to develop properly. Should be pushing for an u21 place by the end of the year!

£10 million price tag should be put on his head as a starting figure

Didn't have his best game yesterday in terms of delivery from the left, but if he continues at this rate it will be hard to keep him in Jan. Wish football wasn't like this sometimes.

I have a simple theory, I believe if we are in the top 3 come the jan transfer window we will keep mings and didz, howevr credit to both they are a joy to watch!

If we could cash in for more than say £7.5m, then I would certainly take it and run. I think Mings has endless potential, and it's up to him whether he wants to develop it fully with Ipswich or elsewhere in the Prem. Would be nice however if an offer did come in January to see him turn it down at least till the Summer, especially if we are in the mixer still. We did think we would be doomed without Cressy, and so far that's been proved wrong.

Parr could move over to left back and Hewitt replace him at right back!?

I know it's a long shot, but any money we do take from a Mings sale could be used in an attempt to lure Palace into giving us Joniesta?

We should not let him leave for anything less than £12-£15 million.

He is a bit predictable going down the left, defenders know he can only cross with his left foot, if he can learn to cut inside sometimes and improve his final ball then potentially an excellent prospect, especially too think he was a mortgage adviser only a couple of years ago!

Did they all say the were watching Tyrone or do we just assume such?
We have more than one quality player in our team!

even if we did accept an offer I don't think mings would leave he is a clever lad who enjoys playing his football and I think he would choose to stay here and play rather than go and warm a bench even though he would get more money! The amount of young players that leave and sit on the bench elsewhere is sad stay home Tyrone !!

Peter (Diesel) Morris due to his non-stop midfield running!

Evans is a business man and wont sell anytime soon. Why on earth would he. Mings value will rocket the more he plays.

I'm not sure a move to Sunderland would help his career too much

ME's investment in the club is only worthwhile if we get into the Premiership - which we won't if he sells our best players. Cresswell was let go because we had Mings (arguably a better player now) ready to take his place.

Do we know if Chippenham get a cut of any transfer fee? I hope he stays at least to the end of the season, when we'll know how we have progressed.

......... as expected- no more, no less - for people who know a Player when they see one.

....... far better player than Cresswell will ever be - no brainer to let him go, as I predicted at the time - when many had doubts !!!

Wish I had seen Peter Morris at the game . will never forget his long range goal at Old Trafford , or same at home to Everton beating Gordon West then England goalie off the underside of the crossbar , great days , 69/ 70 .
