Murphy, Chambers and Bishop Back in Training
Monday, 20th Oct 2014 10:55

Daryl Murphy, Luke Chambers and Teddy Bishop are all training today and should be in the Town squad which travels to Wales for Tuesday night’s game at Cardiff City. Luke Hyam is now the only player sidelined but the midfielder, who has a hamstring problem, is expected to be available for Saturday’s home match against Huddersfield.

Skipper Chambers and young midfielder Bishop both missed the 1-1 draw with Blackburn due to illness but manager Mick McCarthy says the duo are back at Playford Road: “They’re both training today, so I’m very hopeful that they’ll both be OK.

"Teddy’s trained already for a couple of days and Chambo’s just walked in, he’s looking bright-eyed and ready to go.”

He says no other members of his squad are currently affected by the bug which has been going around the club: “I hope not, not today anyway. Let’s hope we keep it that way."

Six-goal top scorer Daryl Murphy, who missed out at the weekend having picked up an achilles injury while away on international duty with Ireland, will return to training this morning.

“We’ve got almost a clean bill of health," McCarthy added. "Murph’s training today, there’ll be one or two who don’t just because of the game on Saturday.

“We’ll see how Murph is today but he’s training. If he trains fully he’s got a chance for tomorrow.

“There’s only Luke Hyam who is still out and he should train on Thursday. He’s got a chance of being involved at the weekend but not Tuesday at Cardiff.”

McCarthy says he has no concerns regarding his full-backs, despite Tyrone Mings picking up a minor niggle and Jonny Parr having been unable to join up with the Norway squad during the international break, after receiving a late call, due to a groin problem suffered in the Nottingham Forest match.

“They’re OK,” McCarthy said. "I think Jonny Parr is one who will go out and warm-up today but doesn’t do anything else. They do put a shift in, the pair of them.

“And Tyrone the same. It’s kind of a bit optional this morning, I’m more concerned about them being able to run up and down tomorrow evening.

“They’re both OK, I think Ty was in because he rocked his ankle but I’ve not been given any cause for concern that they’ll not be available for tomorrow.”

I just hope that we go out with a positive outlook in the game, conceding 2 late goals in 2 games is infuriating but! We have kept our unbeaten run and are still in the top 6, plus hopefully Murphy and chambers will come back in and be even more hungry after missing the game. I'm still suprised we have seen 3 at the back

I also hope Bru keeps his place, because he ran our midfield and looked a really cultured footballer on the ball and did all the dirty jobs well too. Think Mick has un-earthed a couple of gems in him and banjer. Banjer will come good eventually. Big step up from playing reserve football to championship football

Having Murphs back could make a difference to our attack and give us the cutting edge of a striker on top form!

Its great we have genuine tactical/personnel options now. Long may it last.
Its a 4-4-2 or 4-3-3. Im swinging to 4-3-3, keep it tight and aggressive in midfield with Ty and Parr offering the width from full back. Murph/McGoldy/Sammon will keep there back line busy all evening, a mobile front three also stops them from building up play and keeps us up the pitch.

Tough on poor old Tommy Smith though. Has done nothing wrong, and simply falling foul of the strength in depth we have in some areas now. Will get a chance depending on injuries or suspensions, and be dependable as ever. Feel for him though. That said, I'd be saying the same about Chambo if we was left out for Smith. We have cover now, and options, which is good.

bru has undoubtedly improved with games , I would have thought he will be alongside skuse in midfield , I don't see Anderson or hunt starting at Cardiff , remains to be seen if its sammon or murphy up front , will be a extremely difficult game and a win would put us firmly in the auto promo hunt

Just saying if the last two games had finished on 90mins. we would be on 24pts. and sitting in the top two,, But we are in the six, so we must be grateful of what has been achieved so far !!!!!!!

two years ago we were bottom after playing 13 games with 7pts.
