McCarthy Keen to Keep Ambrose
Monday, 29th Dec 2014 15:16

Town boss Mick McCarthy is keen to keep midfielder Darren Ambrose at Portman Road beyond the end of his short-term deal which is up after Tuesday's game against his former club Charlton.

The 30-year-old academy product signed the contract in September after a trial and has so far made five sub appearances but is yet to make a start.

“I just spoke to Daz today and my intention would be to try and keep him and I think his intention is definitely to stay here,” McCarthy said.

Ambrose was a free agent having been released by Birmingham in the summer.

Blueandtruesince82, that is a worry, in regards to another club wanting Mick, and even before the season started, I feared we could lose him, let's hope the relationship with Evans is strong. It does appear to be, and Mick gives the impression that he appreciates the free hand Marcus is giving him. By this i mean, left alone to get on with managing the club. Long may it continue.
All Hail the MIGHTY MICK McCARTHY.

Can't see N Hunt staying. Don't know wether MM will keep hold of sammon either. Maybe he's had a serious offer for mings and is considering making the wage bill lower and investing in buying a player. Will be an interesting January I think

My feeling is that he wouldn't leave for a relegation scrap. If Padew went to palace and Newcastle came calling maybe but i don't think he'd work for Ashley. Micks a pragmatist at the end of the day and like you say walk the line, has little interference here, what will be will be and let us hope it's Mick leading Town in the prem next year! COYB!

The last time we were in this type of position, hopeful of promotion after years in the wilderness we went out and spent £1.8m on marcus stewart to show our intention! Just saying!!

Jesus wept you're an aggressive bunch. My comment said "I wouldn't Be surprised to see us spend 4 million ish on a striker. Didn't say anything like 'def info'. I stand by my thoughts that Evans would sanction that in the circumstances and today's clearing of the decks might add some weight. Chill out you miserable bunch, we all support ipswich and deserve an opinion without being shouted den.

Newdawn, not being agro about it, just saying no way is the club spending 4 million on 1 player. Times and football have changed since we signed stumpy and whilst we would all love you to be right FFP rules don't allow us the room and the club has a clear philosophy of staying within them. Only way we are spending that kind of money is if someone gets sold

Free transfer striker? How about keeping the Reading and Wolves connection and bringing in Kevin Doyle
I well remember 1968 when the brilliant Bill McGarry who pulled us up from the bottom of the old div 2 went out and bought John O'Rourke and Peter Morris when we were near the top of the table. Result? we never lost another game that season and finished up as champions

TractorBoy2------how many championship goals have Salmon, Balner and Marriott scored between them----exactly.

Someone like Doyle from Chesterfield, on 18 goals already this season would be a useful addition I feel----not too expensive and knows where the net is and is young and hunfry to progress.

Rememember David Lowe from Wigan or David Johnson from Bury?
