Redfearn Keen to Keep Sharp
Sunday, 18th Jan 2015 18:05

Leeds manager Neil Redfearn says he’d ideally like to keep Town target Billy Sharp at Elland Road.

As TWTD reported last week, Town and Leeds have been in discussions regarding the 28-year-old joining the Blues on loan with a view to a permanent switch in the summer. The size of the fee Town would ultimately pay is understood to be the sticking point.

“Billy Sharp’s a Leeds United player. That’s it,” Redfearn told the Yorkshire Evening Post when asked about Sharp’s situation after the Whites’ 1-1 home draw with Birmingham on Saturday.

“He looked busy and bright. You want to keep your best players and add better players to them. That’s the idea. He came on and gave us momentum.”

Quizzed on whether he would like Sharp, who played the final 27 minutes against Birmingham, to remain at Elland Road, Redfearn added: “Ideally yes.”

However, he admitted he wasn’t sure of the club’s plans for the striker, who signed a two-year contract following his £600,000 move from Southampton last summer: “I wouldn’t know. I can only deal with what’s put in front of me.

"As far as I know, Billy’s a Leeds player and he’s competing for a place up front.”

I'm sure he would. I would like us to 'ideally' sign him. Sounds like a deal can be done.

He isn't likely to say we don't want him is he!? Would immediately knock down the price. Time will tell but I think MM's way is to do a deal and then we hear. Rarely does a protracted news story become reality. Can't see him joining. Think Hunt and Sears will be enough but let's see what happens.

Speaks volumes about the differences between their set-up and ours.
No wonder Sharp was full of momentum.

Sounds like he hasn't got a clue, or a say in, what's going on!

According to journalists up there, Cellino has told Redfearn Sharp is leaving to make way for 2 new signings next week.

Redfearn has no say in who stays or goes and is why he got the job! Cellino's puppet!

Don't see the need for Sharp. What we might need is a potential replacement for Murphy now that Sammon has gone.

would be happy with Billy but Wood would be a great replacement if Murphy got injured. Has the same sort of physical presence and this would be a great place for him to develop further .........

If he's not coming to town let's hope he starts for Leeds tomorrow and sticks a hattrick past Bournemouth!

Would prefer to see wood from the foxes join us. Think he would give us better cover for murphy should he get injured.
