Knockaert Expected to Sign Later This Week
Tuesday, 24th Feb 2015 10:17

Town are expected to sign Leicester City winger Anthony Knockaert on loan later in the week.

TWTD understands that the 23-year-old is currently in France with the Leicester squad having been given a few days off as they have no match either in midweek or at the weekend.

A deal is believed to be close to being done but won’t be completed until the Frenchman returns, with an announcement likely on Thursday or Friday ahead of the derby at Norwich on Sunday.

Quizzed on his interest in Knockaert yesterday, Town boss Mick McCarthy confirmed that he had made approaches for players and that the former Guingamp man is someone he rates highly: “I’ve spoken to lots of clubs about lots of players, if someone throws that one out.

“He’s a quality player and if I could get somebody of that quality then why wouldn’t I? But I’ve spoken to loads of people. I don’t know how these stories get out, somebody tells [someone].”

Pressed further on Knockaert’s quality, he added: “And all the others I’ve spoken to have as well!”

The former France U20 and U21 international, who can also play in an advanced central midfield role, was a key member of the Foxes’ promotion side last season but has made only five starts and six sub appearances this year.

Knockaert started his senior career with French side Guingamp before joining Leicester in August 2012, signing a three-year deal which ends this summer.

If true this is great news, My leicester loving mate really rates him and dosnt understand why he isnt getting more game time, thinks Pearson has a problem with him.

I'd love us to get him at the end of the season regardless of which league we are in. Please, please, please say it's so.

If he does sign then play him!..let's stop all this fear of losing nonsense and start going for the other team's throats..last season petered out into a damp squib, surely Mick and our players have learnt from that?..starting tonight please!!

GO FOR IT!

Hopefully this might be the best loan signing we have made this season (fingers crossed) only thing that worries me will his french temperament (which I hear comes to the surface at times) test Mick with his nothing less than 100% attitude. We all know Mick likes creative players to track back and do the ugly stuff as well - if he doesn't do this I fear he could be benched sooner than we think, only time will tell.

Will certainly provide that quality that we lack in our wide play. A good signing once more by MM.

haven't seen Knockaert play, but has a good pedigree and would be a welcome addition to the team.

I have no idea how good Beckham is ldnj. If he's as good as Dozzell he should be signed up. Hard act to follow for the lad and extremely high expectations.
